The Florida Postgame Report

We aint going to the big dance and Martin is no Bruce Pearl by any means this looks alot like the Buzz Peterson years nothing better than trips to the NIT.Lucky we seem to have Billy Donavan's number no matter who our coach is.

listen man, i dont know what to tell you. you wanted lunardi numbers i gave em' to ya, i'll update them when he updates the florida win.

if you want to choose to take i'll believe it when i see it approach thats more than fine. i just didnt want people to think winning the sec t is the only way to the dance was accurate, because its not.

something else to take into account, the committee will factor both, how have you played lately, and addition or subtraction of players.

meaining:
if we close out sec going 8-1 and take 2-1 in sec, so 10-2 over our last 12 vs sec opponents, and much better since stokes was added, we will get a nod over a similar rpi rated team on the bubble.

I asked for Lunardi's numbers because you mentioned him to make your opinion stronger when in reality you weren't using him at all. 54th? Don't act like that number is worth anything because you know as well as i do that it's not. We are no where to be found on his board. If we win out and get 2 in the SEC tourney and then make the big dance, okay.

Regardless, the likelihood of that happening is slim.

we DID suck on the road. if ut wins all remaining road games, committee will look at what have you done for me lately approach as already mentioned.

pus as ccn pointed to ncaa games are neutral, we actually had a VERY good neutral showing.

neutral games are more like road games than home games. Our road record will be taken more into account than our home record.

lol :loco:

great road win but don't get carried away. our bad losses still crush our quality wins and now UConn doesn't even look like a quality win cause they are sucking it up bad.

i was just referencing his job that is all i was doing, i never said it was him. but then i did give you his numbers as well. if you choose to disagree with them that is fine.

we are nowhere to be found, 1. because neither of our wins this week are on there and 2. we still have alot of work to do, before we even see a bubble.

exactly! nobody here has said its going to happen book it, but you're saying there is no way without winning the sec T. i was just simply showing the numbers so that people could realize this isnt true, and that they can form their own opinoins as to what it'll take.

Not one single person has mentioned Skylar Mcbee's performance. He has stepped up big since being inserted into the starting lineup. We all know he can shoot the three, but I have been especially impressed with the way he plays D against much bigger and stronger opponents. He has also shown he can hit clutch FTs down the stretch. I just thought it was a shame he hasn't been mentioned in this thread.

+1

Skylar was 4-7 from 3, and is showing that he seems to have figured out his sec shooting woes. as ive said 1000x's if he is shooting at a good percentage, which the last 2 games he is, you take whatever defense he can bring. he stretches the defense out and makes everything easier for everyone around him.

we need everyone to shoot like they have been. mcrae and skylar need to keep it up, cam needs to figure it out. ccm said a few weeks ago guys just need to get in the gym on their own time, that thats all it is. maybe some of these guys are getting in there and its starting to show.

Great win. I don't know that Stokes' "wall" isn't simply an injury he's trying to get over or if he's actually hitting the end of where his talent alone will take him, so to speak. I think he can still be a 9ppg, 8+rpg kind of guy this season - which is an amazing feat for someone who should be playing high school basketball. Not that anyone was arguing his talent or anything. :)

Would love to see us finish 5-1 and end up 10-6 in the SEC. I think if we can do that, finishing at 18-13, and win two games in the SEC tournament we've just punched our ticket to the dance.

I'd love to see UF again in the SEC tournament - I think we match up with them better than any other relevant SEC team. I wouldn't mind meeting UK again either, because if the refs call the game halfway even, we've got a shot to out-muscle them too.

Go Vols.

:post-4-1090547912: Easy breezy. You need to get a life. If you like Pearl so much go watch his team play. OH, That's right, He's not coaching anyone is he!

10. TN always beats the **** out of Florida in basketball

One of the Nationally syndicated radio shows tonight said the same thing when they gave the score of the UT/FL game. It's great to hear the National media make mention of the fact the VOls own Florida in Basketball.
Now, if we could just start a run in football....:dance2:

Big win! I'm not buying they're a NCAA team though. Would be elated if they did, but they are just too erratic.

Another take is we could be peaking at the right time. If the Vols go 5-1 the rest of the way to finish 18-13 and then win 3 games in the SEC tourney to finish 21-14, I can see them possibly getting in as a 9 or 10 seed. Very little room for error from here on out. The GA game and AP game still hard to take as we could have finished 20-11.

Don't forget about the Oakland game.

Every time I see Maymon own the paint this year I think about all those minutes he sat on the bench last year while Steven Pearl was playing. . .

Maymon definitely has been coached up by this staff. Different player, different year. Beast inside, king of the ole fashioned three point play.

We might not go to the dance but this win pretty much guaranteed an invite to the sock hop (NIT).

good point!

many on here, who wont admit to it now, as of a few weeks ago were claiming we wouldnt make the nit tourney.

just goes to show be patient and give ccm a chance to prove something before you rush to judgment.

For the record, you and I were two of them. To be fair though, a few weeks ago we appeared to be headed down a dark path.

I usually call skylar "McButt" but I will give credit where credit is due. McBee has had a great stretch of play. I'm happy for him and I hope he keeps this up. He's hustled and has done good things. Go Vols. let's keep this ish going!

that actually was supposed to say NIT not NCAA, my bad.

with that said, i dont remember saying we wouldnt make it, i have been very optimistic and hopeful for awhile. i dont think i said we were a lock, but i dont ever remember saying that we werent going to make it.

maybe i did though.

as far as my best recollection though, i have been very optimistic about our chances. in fact, i have been bashed and criticized over the last month or so whenever id mention we had a chance.

with that said, we arent there yet but we are on the right track with the last 3 games.
