In a way I agree with you but at the same time, if a kid's family is in a bad situation I can't really blame them for taking the money to help out. Now of course this isn't the situation 99.9% of the time; most of the time it is motivated by greed. I must also point out most of the time the teams or boosters are initiating these illegal activities the kids are just taking what is offered to them.

Sometimes they are forced to use a Pellet Gun to be able to eat.

Hence, why this is in the "Around the NCAA" forum, dumbass.

As for USC, I can't say I can see anything big happening to them.

So since your a Trojan fan, what do you think the verdict will be?
Im thinking a few scholarship reductions, possibly some forfeits. The most extreme i could see is a one year postseason ban, highly doubtful.

Okay, I'll admit it. I am a lawyer. In fact, Gould School of Law 2004. Now that I've read the ESPN and SI reports on the standards the NCAA is expected to apply, I am afraid that I am cannot get away from the feeling that USC really has an uphill battle. Okay, let's take Carroll at his word. He did not know about Bush. And none of the rest of the coaching staff either. But then how can the staff, once they knew they were under the microscope, have not made inquiries of McKnight when he was driving a car that was probably more car than he should have been able to afford. They were on notice at that point. Under investigation. Two scandals. And some simple observations and follow-up questions by an LA Times reporter at practice for all to see! I mean get real. I am afraid Garrett was asleep at the wheel.

My prediction is that the NCAA has no choice but to split the baby. That USC is forced to forfeit all of its wins over a number of years. That USC is forced to sacrifice a certain number of scholarships in football and more significantly in basketball. But that for the most part the machine is left intact.

From a dollars and cents perspective, the NCAA cannot simply replace USC with another program. It's in a huge market without a NFL franchise. The revenues and SYMBOLIC VALUE to the PAC10 and the NCAA are tremendous. UCLA might step up but it could never be counted on to fill the void.

Only when they are winning do they command the LA market. UDub, UofO and Cal will probably garner more overall revenue than USC this next year if the Trojans suck again.

This is a reach but when LA gets a pro team again will this have an adverse affect on recruiting since they wont be the only game in town? The argument could of course be made USC had many successful teams during the Rams stay. I do think it could have a minimal effect that did sway a few prospects because you know the recruiters sell the "we are the biggest game on town in the second largest city in the country" angle.

I just moved to LA yesterday from Knoxville,
Staying with my brother for a few months,

I personally hope that Kiffin and USC get screwed for a long time. Loss of Scholarships can really hurt a team (example: Alabama) Either way, I'm wearing all my Tennessee stuff with pride out here.

Say what you want to but living in LA at least for a while is a damn experience, If you can afford it and don't let the town change you it's quite fun.

I iz still Tennessee fan, but I refer to myself as a USC "fan".

If the NCAA came down with any more than a 5-8 scholarship reduction, it would shock the hell out of me.

Only like one in fifty people in southern California have even watched a whole college football game, don't expect to get much reaction.

And no, I seriously doubt that if/when an NFL franchise comes to LA that it will hurt their recruiting. They have been dominant with the pro show in town before (Rams, Raiders).

Awesome they are fried if all is fair. If not then the perennial cheaters will keep doing what they have always done! USC, Kentucky, Calipari, Kelvin Sampson to name a few NCAA rule benders!

Too bad Kiffins name wasnt on any of that.... I'd love to see him go down in flames too. He was Bush's position coach in 2006 though, as the OC

You said that it was evidence against USC. I saw a lot of stuff about Reggie Bush, his family, and New Era Sports & Entertainment. Where is the evidence against USC?

Exactly there is none. USC didn't cheat. People just want to believe they did.

Pete Carroll didn't need to cheat

Kiffin and O were right in the middle of all of this.

I think all the NCAA is going to do is slap USC on the wrist.
Then past athletes who played in the NCAA will be getting a huge payday for using likeness on media ads without royalties. This will cripple them and be extremely costly.
