The Golf Thread

Mine still has the original grips, and need regripped really bad. I'm so fired up right now i'm gonna take my X-16's out and play with the Eye 2's tomorrow. Those clubs spoiled me with the cavity backs after hitting MacGregor VIP's with a very small sweet spot. I still have those too and i'd embarass myself if i tried to hit a ball with that set..LOL
My current irons are remakes of Nicklaus' 62 VIPs. Pretty behind the ball and solid in the center. The heel and toe aren't much however.

Papa, Those old blades are so sweet. Mine are about '76 models and they are so much smaller than those of today. I'm scared to hit them again. I played my best golf then and then got spoiled with the Pings.

I started on tiny little Mizuno MP-9s and haven't stopped hitting blades since. Mine are small, so I ditched the 2 for a hybrid. A 180 yard two iron is a problem.

Can't hit mine off the tee. I sometimes hit the German shot and can't control it. When i'm in the rough,...it's a money shot.

LOL,....well it's the other money shot. I hit it about 200-210 from the rough as straight as can be. Put it on a tee,..and i just cross my fingers.

We've had this discussion here quite a bit. The vast majority of the hybrids have a huge draw bias weighting. Have to search hard to find the neutral ones. I believe the Adams Tour Gold and Bridgestones are neutral. The TP line from TM is probably neutral as are the older Nickents.

I hit the bridgestone j33 and love it. The j36 comes stock with VS Proto hybrid shaft. Good deal on a very good neutral stick.

My friend had a TM and i hit a couple times and had to have one. It's identical. Haven't had it long, but i'll get it worked out eventually.

playing Hawks View- Como Course, in Lake Geneva, WI on Monday.

We've been uppacking for a week, and I finally got my garage to a point where I could get the sticks out..

There's a new beast of a course on Hilton Head. Pete Dye redesigned the Sea Pines Sea Marsh course, changed the name to Heron Point and left a bunch of signature cross ties, bunkers and moguls. It's about 7,000 yards with postage stamp greens that undulate like a roller coaster. I think it might be as difficult as Harbour Town.

First, lemme start with some hate. Can someone tell me why idiots scream "get in the hole" off a tee shot on a par 4? like we are watching Happy Gilmore? I even hear it on par 5's. I just cant wrap my brain around why someone would say that?
Beer!

I've some friends playing Harbour Town in July. It is funny, they didn't like Rarity Point in Lenoir City because it was too hard. If that is the case, Harbour Town will be the worst place ever...according to them.

Obviously, nice means nothings. It is how easy or hard the place is :)

Harbour Town is a pristine tight layout with tiny greens . . . and then the wind blows. The whole day is worth it just to play those Par 3's and the finishing holes.

I agree totally. It is not everyday you get to play a PGA course.

I just thought it was funny how my buddies thought a local course "sucked" because it was hard. Yet they are going to play Harbour Town.

On the golf channel they just showed a little special about 2 guys that are wounded Iraq veterns. The story was about them dealing with their injurys, both had to have one of thier legs amputated. These guys still get up everyday and go out and play this game we all love, i just thought it was amazing. Brings me back down to earth when i hear stories like this and makes me so thankful for how good I have it and that these guys go out and give everything they have so we can live the way we do. Sgt. John Botts, one of the 2 guys they did the special on, rocked his Vol hat through the whole segment. Go Vols!

If I buy the above Nike Air Zoom Vapor Golf shoes, will they make me faster on the golf course?
