The Golf Thread

It looks like Tiger is playing a different driver today to me.... Yes?...

Not sure if he has a new driver. He hit 13 of 14 fairways on Thursday and was 11 of 13 when I saw on Friday, so at worst he missed 3.

Something is definitely different.

Said on Sportscenter this morning he was hitting a 10 degree driver

Pretty sure he was hitting an 8.5

The leaderboard is chock full of stars, and Bettencourt is the feel good story. Tomorrow should make for a very interesting day of golf.

Anyone had their hands on the new Kia Ma putters from TM. The Imola is almost an exact replica of the putter I've used for years and recently went back to, horizontal line and all. About to order it and thought I'd ask first

Anyone interested, I found a guy that will sell it, fully customized, for 249.

his chip in on 11 was awesome
to go along with his drivng today
the 10 degree driver must suit him

Yeah, In his Golf Channel interview after the round he acts like he is really close to where he wants to be. Once he gets there, he will be dominating. Not that he isn't now.

Funny how he is in a "slump" and he is still playing awesome

Pretty impressive day for tiger cosidering the 14/14 fir.

But that was one helluva lot of three woods and amazingly long approach shots. Guy hits shots from 175 plus to that tight like he did on 17 and 18, he can win with only a 2 iron.

Which is why many have wondered why he has pulled the big dog out of the bag since the british open victory without it. My guess is that tiger doesn't want to win that way because it would benan admision of a weakness in his game. Either way, he's going to need to hit the short grass at bethpags black.

Prayers to Ken Green and family. Being on the verge of suicide a few years back and now having to deal with this will be extremely difficult for him.

Sad story about one of the more interesting men in golf. The dog that was killed in the crash along with his brother and girlfriend was the same dog he saved from an alligator a few years back. One of my favorite Ken Green stories.

I played in a Pro-Am with Ken about 3 years ago. He was character to say the least with many interesting stories.

spent 13 hours today at the Knoxville Open. i really wish i had time to go back again this weekend. i've never been to a PGA Tour event, but i really love the atmosphere at the Nationwide event. the interaction you have with not only the players, but their families (moms/dads/wives/girlfriends) cannot be beat. even with the 2+ hour rain delay, everybody was in good spirits.

The Nationwide Tour is a great way to get close to some high level golf. Back when there was a Nike Tour stop here, I actually caddied a couple of years and it was a great experience.

there's definitely not many times you get the chance to eat lunch and wait out a rain delay with a touring pro and his caddy at your table. i also had the opportunity to look through the bags of 25-30 guys and pick several of their brains about their equipment.

#16 at Fox Den Country Club is a mini version of the 16th hole at the FBR Open. every time there's a birdie at the par 3, 214 yard hole, beers are a dollar for 30 minutes, or until the next birdie. the players are very aware of this and really know how to work the crowd. the whiskey bent marshal working the hole only added to the entertainment value.

Doozer, I was listening to the local radio a few weeks ago and they were interviewing a Nationwide player and talking about the Knoxville open. The guy said he birdied the hole and had no idea why everybody went nuts. After they told him, he went and laid 100 dollar bill down for everyone to drink on
