The Golf Thread

unless they are way discounted, find some sale Ecco and you'll be happy.

I'm actually a Footjoy guy, I can get major discounts on them. I was just being sarcastic about "Vapor" golf shoes. According to someone on this board, UT sucks because they don't play in the football version of Vapors

Got it. I was a FJ guy until I grabbed a pair of the Eccos. I still wear my last pair of FJ classics dry, but they aren't the same.

I wear Ecco. Got a pair for Christmas. TGW.com had them for about $120.

Best shoes ever made!

Never seen a pair of Ecco's less than $250 that I would be caught dead in.

As long as I got a hookup with Footjoy, that's what my foot will go in. I don't have $400 to waste on golf shoes

then you're welcome not to wear them.

I'd also suggest that you haven't look very hard. Maybe if you look hard, you can find some wing tips that suit you.

I wouldn't disagree with you. When they first came out, or when I first caught a glimpse of them, I despised them. The only ones I ever saw were the moon shoe looking things and ever since then I have been biased against them. Their top of the line, more conventional stuff is sweet, but like I said, I don't have that kind of money to drop on golf shoes.

That and the fact that I can still get Footjoys for 40% of retail make it a tough sale.

you get yourself a pair of the World Class GTX and you ain't going back. I got mine about 50% off and they are worth every penny thus far.

Tim Clark came pretty close to his first tour win
That approach shot that hit the flag stick was really unlucky
With Stricker within 3 feet, Clark needed to get within birdie range
Then Clark's approach shot hit's the flag stick and ends up 20+ feet away

It was unlucky . . . but none of it would have mattered if he had just canned the 5 footer on the 1st playoff hole.

so money is definitely going to be a factor, but does anyone know of some good golf in the $40-50 range in or near Detroit? Haven't been to Comerica Park and looking forward to marking it off the list. Me and a buddy are trying to visit every park. We figure at the rate of new parks, it will be a never ending project. Any golfing ideas would help. Thanks in advance.

You wouldn't have liked it, as Tiger no longer does Colonial.

Good point! After my initial frustration, I decided to go play myself. If it had been a real tournament, Tiger in the field, I would have been on channelsurfing

He tried several different shafts
It comes down to sticking with the Diamana vs Oban shaft
good luck finding an oban shaft.....of course most of us don't have a club head speed plus +120, and 1.5 degrees open for a driver face
