The Golf Thread

played gatlinburg yesterday. the gnats out there were unbearable. nice course tho.
Is Gatlinburg cart path only regardless of the weather? I have been there once in the middle of winter and it was then.

I usually hit my good ol' reliable high push/block into the trees, pitch out, come up short with my third, pitch on, and two-putt for double.

Not being a long hitter, #7 seems like it's about 700 yards or so. Especially if you miss the fairway to the right. Luckily, things get much more manageable on the back nine.
#7 is a beast. Straight uphill...seems like you will never get there.

After not being able to keep a round going all summer, I've gone bananas the last 2 rounds. Saturday was a little more conventional with 7 birdies and no bogeys spread out over all 18. Yesterday, however, was nuts. Stepped on 14 tee 1 under and played the last 5 6 under. Best shots were wedges to 6 inches on 14 and 18 and a 9 iron to a foot on 15. Made bombs on 16 and 17. The latter being for eagle. Got to love short golf courses.

I have played like dog for the last 2 days. Didn't help that my buddy is about 13 under over those days.

My iron game is garbage. Rest has been decent. Loud reminder about why Tiger is the best. Irons make or break.

I have "broken" quit a few in my time :)
(sent a few to a watery grave also)

not all of the time. it was the last time we were there because it rained all night. it was pretty sloppy. we played there once last summer and it was 90 degree on most of the holes.

If I were to ask what course in the state of TN you recommend to play, what would you suggest? Might I add, if you travel to SC around the Hilton Head area for vacation and are looking for a good round of golf, Nicklaus' Melrose Course is PHENOMENAL!
