The Golf Thread

Have you played the Plantation on Amelia Island? I was there in June and played the Ritz course, but I think I missed the gem at Plantation.

Where are you in Illinois? I had a friend who played juco ball at Harrisburg and I went up there a couple of times in college.

I'm actually in Tennessee bud, in martin. Literally 10 minutes from the border

If anybody is ever in North Louisiana for anything, send me a message and we'll go play. The club I'm a member at has two courses. They are complete opposites of each other. Calvert Crossing is short and tight (tree lined fairways and a lot of OB) and Pine Hills is more wide open for the grip it and rip it type of golf. I play about three times a week, so finding a day won't be a problem. Just make sure you have some orange to wear. It pisses of the LSU folks down here.

Todays round was a washout due to mother nature's decision pour buckets of rain down here, that's 3 out of the last 4 tee times rained out for me.

It's alright, no worries. Hopkinsville is in the southern part of KY right?

Yes, I'm 20 minutes from Clarksville, with basically Ft. Campbell separating me from Tennessee.

I drive past Kemper Lakes everyday..
Haven't played it though

It is a really nice course, with some beautiful holes. I played it in the rain, and they had just punched the fairways on the back, so the conditions weren't great, but it is still a very nice course. It was public when I played it, but I think it has gone private since. You might want to check if you've got a mind to play it.

Well shoot that's nothing. That's a 2 hour drive max for me, I believe. If I ever get enough hours in at work to afford the gas and round of golf, I might make the drive

Kemper has gone Private,
If I get the chance I'll play it

My neighbor's played it and had nice things to say as well

I find Mickelson a very disingenuous guy, but he just played a phenomenal round of golf on a tough track.

I just invested in an Odyssey crimson putter, but have not been able to play it. Any reviews on that series of putters?

I played the Golf Club of Tennessee today in the ACC/SEC Challenge to benefit the First Tee. It was a terrific event, with a lot of ex-greats from both conferences in several sports participating. The course was terrific, if soggy, and the weather was great.

It was a weird format, but I hit it pretty well once I got away from the tee box. We had a chance to halve the match on the 18th hole, so I did the only honorable thing and hit it in the water. My team lost 3pts to 1, and the ACC beat the SEC 44.5-39.5

All told, it was a very good day, and a course well deserving of its reputation.

I just arrived in town from DC for tomorrow's game. Only one overturned car on I-81 this time. I'm playinf Rivers Island for the first time at 11:15 tomorrow per suggestion from this thread. I'll give a report about the course (not about my play-I know how that will go) afterwards.

Hit 'em straight :good!:

Who are my fellow golfers in west tenn? I'm looking to play in one more scramble before the temperature turns really cold. Any help??

I played in a torney yesterday to benefit our local Community College, and surprisingly after Monday hit it pretty well. Western Hills, our only true muni, was in great shape, and I had forgotten how much fun the quirky little course is to play. I won the prize for straightest drive, so if anybody wants 4 tickets to a Western K'entucky amateur theater group, I can hook you up!
