The Golf Thread

yeah i guess i just assumed it was not restricted since he worked there and was doing it. could be wrong.

if it is restricted and he is doing it just because he works there, then i agree.

Unless you know your boss wears a tshirt and you've done it before, you gotta show up with a collared shirt. Personally, I've never played in a T, even on the goatiest of goat ranches.

I disagree. If the course has zero restrictions on dress code, it shouldn't matter what you or even an employee wears while he plays as long as it's within reason and you know how to act while you are out there.

I have never actually worn a tshirt myself, but I have shedded my polo for a white undershirt a couple of times when it was hot as blazes on said goat ranches.

I personally believe it's more important to show respect for the course and the people that are playing there by how you act and treat the course than how you dress. That's just me tho. I can play with almost anyone that has etiquette.

I agree but I'm not wearing my nice polos to the golf course bc when i have tgey always seem to get dirty. And i didn't want to wear one of my work polos bc they were all dirty. I just dont see the problem in a nice shirt. But I'm off to play and making sure I'm wearing a polo so I don't have to listen to him complain

you don't have a washing machine?

To me, being appropriately attired is a part of displaying etiquette.

Yes but not all stains come out of polos. And the last thing i want is a stain on a $60 Ralph Lauren polo

If I wore a regular knit polo To play golf in the sweat stains would ruin a brand new shirt. Always seemed to fade the collar very bad. Now every shirt I have is dri fit or some kind of moisture wicking material.

Post above that said with in reason. Obviously you can't dress like you are going to the beach or to see a heavy metal band.

To me, wearing a golf shirt and golf shorts or pants while playing golf pretty much defines "within reason."

Finally happened first hole in one today...

holeinone.jpg

only had to buy a couple of ice cream sundaes..
I was playing a Park District Par 3, with the kids this afternoon

only took two clubs, since I figured I would end up carrying their liitle bags before the end of the round...

so I hit a 3/4 9 iron on the 100 yard second hole..
landed it about 5 feet on the front of the green and it rolled about 15 feet straight in the hole..

couldn't believe it...

ps, I had a collared shirt own

if you're that worried about getting dirty, perhaps you should take up an indoor sport.

i can't for the life of me recall a time where i ruined a polo shirt while simply playing a round of golf.

Like I said my sweat has ruined plenty sometimes the first time wearing it. Seems to happen mainly with cotton & messes up the crease on the collar. Fades really bad. Everything now is mainly moisture wicking or dri fit.

where the hell are you hitting the ball where playing it gets your shirt so dirty? you falling down hills?

I've had a couple hole in ones, and went on to lose both balls. The first one was in a tournament. Thought I might have a lucky ball, and on the next hole - a long par 5 - tried to reach it in 2 and came up short into a ravine.

The 2nd hole in one I put the ball in my bag and took it home. Not sure where it is now.
