The Golf Thread

Some people....I would be willing to bet that I spend less playing golf once or twice a week than an avid angler spends fishing that same amount.
don't like golf because of all the elitists is actually latin for "I have the hand-eye coordination of a shark, the athletic ability of a sloth and shoot somewhere well north of 100"

if you live in Knoxville, get out to Dale's Winning Edge this week off of Ceader Bluff Rd.

they have lots of new and used stuff for next to nothing. i just picked up a new r7 driver for chicken scratch a few other things i didn't need, but got anyway.

hmm...i do recall seeing either a 425 or a 460 TP. do not remember the price on it though.

and i actually got a demo 425 10.5*, so by new, i mean to to me. however, it is excellent condition. i heard them advertising the sale on the radio and i told myself i wouldn't go and if i did, i wouldn't spend any money. my car and my wallet talked me into it.

congrats on the new stick

thank you sir. looking forward to getting to the range tonight. hopefully, my shoulder will co-operate.

on the equipment note, a buddy mine that plays on the (I'll forever continue to call it such) the Nike tour, is now hitting the latest version of the Nickent and said it just flies different than the rest of the sticks. Said it's the rage out there now and that everyone would be making one like it over the next year or so. It isn't on the market yet, but quite few are now hitting it.

I didn't read the whole golf thread to see if this had been posted, but I recently received an email from The Golf Warehouse about some new Footjoy shoes they had. You can customize them with your favorite NCAA team. I believe I may get the Tennessee shoes. They look pretty sweet in my opinion. Here is the link in case anybody wants to check them out.

What is it with Nickent going after the Hogan/Nike/Nationwide Tour? Didn't they push their hybrids really hard on that tour last year?

amazingly cheaper to push to Nike Tour types. Rich said they weren't pushed onto him, one of his friends was hitting it and Rich got very curious about it. Shortly after the round, he sought out the Nickent rep and had one made for himself. He says it's the real thing. I'll have one next week from the van, so I'll let you know how it acts.

Please do let me know how you like it. I'm about to ditch the Taylor Made and stick the 3 iron back in the bag this weekend. I'm sick of having one club in my bag that I have to fight a hook with every single time.

are we talking about the same thing. Sounds like you might be talking about a hybrid. The non hooking hybrids are Nickent's 3DX ironwood, Bridgestone's J33 hybrid, and Taylor Made's TP. I believe the rest are heel weighted, draw biased.

I'm talking about the new driver from Nickent. it sets up 1-2 degrees open and is neutrally weighted. Dude plays a draw, but said he can move it either way.

OK guys. I hope to make some real strides in the "brainy" aspect of my game this weekend. I am playing golf with a psychiatrist that I work with.

Goodbye mental lapses..... for good.

Picked up the Ping G5 driver from a co-worker for $75.00 dollars.

He went with the new Taylor Made Burner.

I'm playing in a boys/girls club charity tournment in the morning, so we'll see how it does.

I've decided I'm playing this afternoon in 123d heat and 109% humidity because there is no better way of ending a frustrating week than by continually mishitting a stationary object.

I've seen the G5 send the ball on an ungodly and inhuman quest of distance. It was not in my hands mind you.

GAVOL - You would be able to relate this distance. It is a sight to behold watching this guy drive, and with consistency. At Cateechee, which you recently played, on hole 18 this person can drive the ball airborne, over/behind the oak tree down on the corner and be just off the fringe. Every time. He is crazy long, and crazy consistent with it. First name Chad. You'll find him at Hartwell Flooring Center next time through. It is a show. This is not a short par 4.

That's amazing . . . When I played out there a few weeks ago I hit a monster fade up the right side and was left with about 100 yards to the hole and I was down in the right side rough with the ball way below my feet. I cannot imagine driving it remotely close to that green.

I just got done with a challenge match against WestColumbiaGamecock. It was a hard fought battle, but I was able to stave him off at the end.

I was pleased with the results yesterday.
Our 4 man scramble was 9 under, and I put the ball in play consisently so our "A" player could bomb away.
