The Golf Thread

Shot an 85 today which is better than average for me (90 is more like avg.).

Once again I couldn't hit greens: Only 3 GIRs.

Once again putting saved me: 28 putts with 1 putts on 9 holes.

Sounds like somebody has a pretty good short game.

I definitely made some putts today - 4 or 5 of the one putts were 10 ft or so. Had my wedge been better, the putts would have been shorter.

Of course on one of the 3 measely times I hit a green in regulation I three putted

Irons:
Mizuno- MP 32 (love 'em)
Wedges- Cleveland -53 and 58 degree
Putter- Odessey two-ball

Driver I'm in the midst of change
I've been playing a Titelist 983K, reshafted with a Graphite Design ys6+ shaft, but I just picked up a Ping G5 from a co worker, and played it Saturday in a Boys and Girls Club scramble for the first time.

I played well with it, but I'm waiting to play it Saturday at my normal course, to really evaluate.

3-wood- Titlest 904f2 13 degree
Rescue- Sonartec 16 degree

I play MP-32s as well. And I love them as well.
3-PW

Cobra Greg Norman 54 degree forged
Taylor Made 60 degree

Taylor Made R7 quad
Taylor Made 15 degree 3-wood
Taylor Made Rescue 19 degree

I took the 19 degree Taylor Made Rescue out of my bag a few days ago. It's betrayed me one too many times.

If you are caught on a golf course during a storm and are afraid of lightning, hold up a 1-iron. Not even God can hit a 1-iron.

With record breaking temperatures here in South Carolina, I thought the best way to start the day was a nice round of golf. The actual temperature here has been over 100 for the past 4 days, reaching 105 yesterday and today. I figured it was my best chance to have a score lower than the temperature.

The front nine wasn't all that bad, but the last 5 holes were rather tough as it reached 100 by noon. All in all, it was ok.

the thread started getting a little low for my tastes.

anyone weather the heat to play / practice any lately?

I played a scramble a week ago yesterday and that's the last time I've dared to venture out. We didn't start until 1:00 and it just might have been the hottest I've ever been on a golf course in my life . . . the only positive was that the ball was really flying in all that heat.

The high temperatures down here have been nuts the past week or so. It's 105 with a heat index of 112 right now.

i've gotten to the range after the sun went down and still left with my shirt soaked. i probably won't play a round in the middle of the day until mid-September.

I played saturday morning, went off at 7:05 and was done by 11:00, so I avoided the afternoon.

It's been brutal here this week, and continuing in the 100's thru the weekend

Played 9 at the Standard Club again this Monday. Struck the ball fairly well- but the greens ate me alive. It's always tough to adjust to extremely fast greens when you are used to putting on the slower public greens.

It's been wayyy to hot for me to get to the range at all these last few weeks, and I work at night, so I've been SOL.

Need to come on back my way. Temp has settled down here in my area. The 100 + index is back to normal. We had some fronts come thru that didn't materialize.

Well, Kohler is next week. I've actually got a tune up lesson tomorrow. The thing I'm looking forward to most? Projected high for the first day is 78 degrees:happy:

You might not even notice the weather while you're there - the golf is that good. Word to the wise - drive it well 'cause forgiveness ain't what Mr. Kohler had in mind.
