Well I decided to play this afternoon to get some practice in. It was 105 degrees. That was the temperature, not the heat index. It could have been worse, I guess--Clarksville was 107.
First class. I played three of the four courses (I missed Meadow Valley at Blackwolf Run,) and they are all as good as advertised, although all very different. We had to play through some drizzling rain on two days, but it still beat the 100+ temps here. The golf, lodging, and food were all top notch, the equivalent of Pinehurst and ahead of any other golf resort I've visited. I'll try to post some pics if I ever get them out of my camera.
It gets sore after playing, but doesn't bother me on the course. I played terribly the first two rounds on the River and Irish, but actually managed to put a decent round together on Straits for the last day.
It really is a great course--14 holes with views of Lake Michigan, playable from the whites under mild conditions, exceptionally tough from the tips in the wind.
All three of the courses really were top notch though, and Meadow Valley is reportedly excellent as well and maybe the most difficult (the Women's US Open used some holes from the River and some from MV.) Kohler is definitely on my "will return one day" list.
Played Gettysview the other day in Knoxville. Not pretty...did well practicing before the round, but really bombed when it came to driving. Couldn't recover. Managed to hit a house...but luckily it was being built and had no windows or anything.
