The Golf Thread

The weather is just getting nice here, but the days are getting short, and there is football to be watched on the weekends. I expect to play a couple of my best rounds over the next month, then put the clubs away just as my game is rounding into shape so that I can undo all of the good habits I've developed during a winter of inactivity.

This is the time of year for Southeastern golf. I'll at least hit balls every week. Headed to Ft Worth to play Colonial for 3 days in early Oct. Playing Karsten Creek next Tuesday and will give some feedback.

Don't wear a TX jersey when you visit Oklahoma

Your right on with Football starting, I'll only get out on Sunday's.

I don't really consider it an OK visit, just a trip to a very good, from what I hear, golf course. Looking forward to it greatly, except the OK part.

Actually went to the OU-Miami game last week. That's seriously visiting OK. Had a good time in Bricktown, but the ballgame left a bit to be desired. Miami looked surprisingly slow-footed.

i've been working on my game more than playing it.. did play nine holes yesterday, but I was alone and took plenty of second shots and alternate ways around the course. Just working on wedges, putts, where to putt tee shots, etc. But i've been a maniac at the driving range lately. They're open until 10:30, so I've been waiting until 9-ish to get there when it's cooled down.

Anyone see Rory call for Tiger and Phil to be DQ'd from the FedEx cup? That guy must no realize how it works.

haven't seen it. what was his point? some garbage about them skipping events?

Yep, said they should have to play every event to win it. Wonder if it has anything to do with them being ahead (after skipping events) after he played them all.

The good thing with Rory is that you don't have to guess as to whether he's a moron or not.

My brother just moved into a home at Colonial. Of course, it will be years before a spot opens up for him to join. If you haven't played there, you will love it. As you know, it is a "classic" old school club course where you don't have to hit it a mile.

played there several years ago and I recall 3, 4 and 5 being brutally long, but it wasn't rolling much at the time.

I read in SI where he's tweaked his set up with the driver.
He's gotten a little closer and a little more up right.

Woody's 3 back, and it will be interesting to see him play with Tiger, after the PGA Championship in Tulsa.

Woody's such a lame brain that it probably doesn't matter who he's paired with.

I actually like his chances, because it's extremely hard to follow such a great putting round with another.

I may be crazy . . . but I think the guy introducing the players at the first tee of the Tour Championship is Neal Boortz.
