The Golf Thread

It's not just that brown is popping up. It's how low the fairways are cut. I've putted on greens thicker than that. It's hot, humid and there's not much rain forecast for the next week here. Dried out fairways that could make the ball roll all over the place.

The fairways are pretty tight at all Pro golf tournaments although I'm sure the usga will try to make it play hard & faster than normal..... as usual.

yeah. I've been to a few PGA events. But trust me, the fairways are cut S-H-O-R-T. The ball will be rolling like crazy by the weekend.

Ironically, they were constantly keeping the greens watered, so at least there is that.

They can't kill the greens with the women coming in right behind them. They're tearing them up after that & putting in Bermuda greens.

I'm sure they've got those greens shaved down to the roots and have no choice but to throw the water to them.

I was able to get right beside the greens on 18, 9, 6 and wasn't too far away from a lot of the other ones. They were fast, but didn't seem completely shaved down. Seeing no traditional rough on TV is completely different than seeing no traditional rough in person. Any wayward tee shot is going to be hit out of sand or pine straw. I've spent the past four years down here trying to learn how to hit wayward tee shots off of pine straw. I haven't learned anything. If I don't club up, I'm a club short. If I club up, I'm a club short. I would challenge anyone not playing on the PGA to a punch shot through the trees challenge though. I hate pine trees in case anyone wondered.

My parents lived in pinehurst for 14 years and it was always fun to visit them.

To hit the ball best out of the straw, I used to sweep the ball-literally lace it and try to barely hit in to the straw at all. Don't know if it helps, but it was best for me.

Had a lesson yesterday excited to work on my game.

Guy I went to was my bros freshman baseball coach. Biggest issues are my hands basically way too handsy . Fixed my set up and start of my swing to get my hands out of it so much . Was hitting it pretty good but felt weird.

He told me I shouldn't shoot higher than 78 with my swing.

I needed to go to get the big block right out of my game which is caused by my grip being way too strong and way to handsy .

Played the worst 9 hole round I've played in a looonngg time today. Slice after slice off the tee box. Fat iron shot after fat iron shot..was honestly embarrassing. Luckily I've always been able to putt pretty well.

Golf is a very humbling game sometimes.

I'm a week postop tomorrow and going to go play. What the hell. If I can't swing on the range, I won't, but took some swings and feel little pain. Leg is really weak and I'm sure I will be swollen and tired but I can't keep sitting around here. Doctor said till not after 7/7 but I'm playing if I can. 12 man game with teammates as well. I gotta play.

Played 18 at my regular course today. I just bought a xhot callaway driver and had to give it a go. It did well. I played terrible on the front nine and did ok on the back. Shot 89. I had more birdie attempts in one round than I can ever remember but I didn't sink one. came close on a few. I did make a long 40 foot putt on the last hole to save par. The longest putt I've ever made. I may not buy a new putter after all :)

was proud of my daughter tonight
packing for the trip to Florida tomorrow, and loaded up the clubs..I had put their tennis rackets in the car, and she said don't forget our golf clubs too

My son on the other hand was making sure the Xbox and I pad were packed

Should be a fun trip, I really need a stress free week, and not talking to their mom, will be a godsend
