The Golf Thread

Surely you can borrow a set of clubs. I worked in a proshop in college and I can tell you that rentals suck. They are all 20 year old sets of Golden Bear blades, and most of them are left handed.
Depends where you play!:)What do you shoot on average. 3 Diff courses.I have a Golgen bear 4 wood I still play with. It's sweet, still old wood.rest of mine are callaway old metal.:mega_shok:

I agree except that if you are a true beginner, go cheap for now and work on your swing. Equipment makes a difference, but not if you can't hit the ball to begin with.

And Lex, the answer is no. I repeat: Mulligans are for losers. Don't be a loser, never take a mulligan.

If you don't get there early enough to hit a few on the range before the first tee, tough nuggies. Get your azz there earlier next time.

It depends on how often I play. For the last few seasons I have been relegated to playing once a week. Under those circumstances I am stuck in the low to mid 80s with an occasional 78 or 79.

Newborns have that effect.

Excellent golfing Lex. I'm not a golfer but my middle college son is pretty good. This didn't happen overnight though. We have enough backyard to practice about 140 yards out. This has really helped him develop a good swing through the years. Surprisingly, he's even improved on his swing even more of late. Chipping and driving farther with a better follow through swing, effortlessly I suppose you call it. He's in the 80's, no 70's yet, but I see that just around the corner. My golf game is crap. That's why I don't golf.He practices chipping a lot though.

Just another illustration of why there are about 10,000 different theories on how to hit a golf ball. Who's to say what's right or wrong as long as it works for somebody? :eek:k:
Works for me(sweeping) need more loft go to a higher club, easy.:eek:k:

I also have a persimmon five wood that wastes space in my bag. I hit it about three times a year. It has become more of a security blanket than anything else.:eek:lol:

It beats the heck out of sucking my thumb or curling up by my golf cart in the fetal position.

:eek:lol: Anybody else have a wasted club in their bag?

At most courses I play 3-5 irons collect dust in my bag. 3w doesn't get much use either.

Mills, where all in West Tn do you play? Ever make it down to the Memphis area to play?

depends upon when you ask. right now they're all pretty useful. After a big, high leaking push on #6, my 5 iron can be the most useless club on earth.

According to Dave Pelz we should all take the 5 iron out of our bag and add a 64 degree X-Wedge. I think I'd develop a headache looking at my bag if I carried 4 wedges.
