The Golf Thread

I'm glad I didn't forget this was a major. This, to me, is what golf is about. Great shots get rewarded, bad shots can get you in serious trouble. Add to it that creativity can make or break you, and that today has easily been the best all around non final round of major golf this year and I'm still convinced of how great the PGA Championship is.

Several years ago, Boo was playing in the Knoxville Nike Tour event at Fox Den. I had never heard of him at that time, and knew nothing about him. I watched him hit balls on the range for several minutes, and made the remark to my brother that "this guy must not be able to putt a lick'" because he hits the ball as pure as anybody I have ever seen.

I started to tell that to Boo, but I was afraid that he might not take it as a compliment. I have seen most every known golf pro over the last 50 years play and practice, and Weekly struck the ball beautifully. The sound, the ball flight, the consistency, etc. and I had never heard of him at the time.

Hope he keeps it together

Pretty freaking special. Great TV. Notice how many players are coming out to congratulate him. He's certainly no villain.

Just got back from our annual guys' trip, this time to Pinehurst. It was awesome. The history, the clubhouse, the accommodations, and the courses were all incredible. We had a package deal that included dinner and breakfast, and the food was great. If anyone is interested, try to book a 4 room villa at the Carolina hotel. You will not be disappointed. We used Golfthere.com, and I highly recommend them.
