The Golf Thread

Jordan Spieth is flat out ridiculous right now. If he wins a major this year, I'd have to call it a Tiger-esque run.

Quoted before 72 tells us Speith ain't **** cause Jack woulda won every tournament Speith is playing with just a left handed 1 iron cause he saw him on the driving range once in '65.

Knoxville native Peter Malnati is back on the PGA Tour this year and playing well so far this year. T6 last weekend and up to 1.1 mil before the season recalls gets into swing. Watched him in the Open here in Knoxville several times, including his win a few years back. He's a good guy.

Funny! A person as talented and mentally tough as Jack or Tiger would have held their own in any era. Spieth has a bunch of solid competition to beat. That is what makes him special. He has to compete with Rory, Jason Day, Fowler, Bubba Watson, Dustin Johnson, and others. If Johnson learns how to win, (Zach already knows how, just not quite as talented), he will be all that Spieth wants.

If you will go back in either this thread, or the Tiger thread(don't remember which), I told everyone that Spieth would be the man before the 2015 Masters, and told that he could very well have as many wins and major wins as Tiger at the same age. I still maintain that what separates these guys is between their ears, not the way that they hit it.

Edit: I need to add Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson to the list of Spieth's competitors who he has to beat. Also, maybe even Patrick Reed in the future, although those guys are a little suspect with the putter.

I agree with 72. The separation from the greats and the good players is between the ears. They all hit it great. But those that know how to handle the pressure and thrive in those moments excels above the rest.

Also, if anyone is ever in the Murfreesboro area, I would love to meet up and play. Would be great to meet some of my Volnation faithful.

Thanks, sounds like a nice offer. The "between the ears" and mental toughness is what makes Tom Brady great. It isn't the fact that he throws the ball better than someone else.

Exactly. There are so many people who can hit the shots like the greats. It's just that the greats hit those shots with the tournament on the line. That's the difference.

I'm not bashing the 71 previous shots. I believe he was 100% from 5 feet and in on his last 20 or 25. That's a choke. I'm bashing that one. He Philled the **** out it. I laughed.

Yeah, he should have made it, but On poa annua greens, I'm not sure there's such a thing as an easy 5 footer.

Multi major, 40+ tour win players missing a 5 five footer is a gag job. I don't care if they're putting on their driveway.

None of that though takes away though from what a great story Vaughn Taylor is.

No lie. Dude just went from begging for sponsor exemptions and no tour card to fully exempt for two years and playing in the Masters.
