The Impeachment Thread

Again, you miss the point.

No one on the left complained that Bolton was dishonest or a liar. Just that his policy positions seemed extreme to us.

It is ironic that the right, that championed him for so long, is now calling him an extremist and a liar to discredit what he is saying. So if it comes down to believing Trump (who we all know lies at the drop of a pin) versus Bolton, who no one was claiming until now was a liar, I'll go with Bolton.

Especially given all of the other damning evidence of Trump. And especially given that John Kelly, the former Chief of Staff for Trump, says Bolton is telling the truth.
It's also ironic that the left now loves him after they've called him a liar, child murderer, neocon, and war criminal for years

Whatever they decide on witnesses is okay by me. It will be opening up a whole 'nother can of worms, in my opinion.

Just as long as the witness list is mostly the people the house wouldn't consider ... and that doesn't mean the ones they wouldn't subpoena. I'm talking whistle blowers, Bidens, etc. If witnesses are gonna happen, this needs to be like halftime where the team comes back on the field with adjustments and decides to play some real offense.

I googled "minutae" to make sure I spelled it right because VN red lines it. No doubt the Ukranian aid was considered chump change and bundled (or bungled) in with everything else and passed. I think you missed the intent ... who initiated the aid because once it got to a certain point it becomes invisible until time to disburse. The real question is why is there no outside overview ... who tears stuff apart on an item by item, line by line basis for validity and fraudulent abuse of our money? As to the second part how can anyone view delaying what appears to be discretionary funds as abusive or contemptuous?
The abuse is using the office to ask a foreign government to investigate a political opponent.

Impeachment is a bulwark against the POTUS wielding his/her uniquely concentrated powers like a tyrant. Should be used more in my opinion.

Even in Clinton's case, where the crime was not a direct abuse of Presidential powers, I'm fine with it, because almost anyone in any other job would have been fired for what he did.

As FLVOL said, we hired Trump to break some things. He's the bull in the dainty DC china shop; I just wish he'd put the phone down, shut up, and do some real charging and stomping.

Dershowitz admitting that Trump did it, but that his corruption is NOT an impeachable act.

Anyone paying attention knew it would come to this.

Trump's MO. Every. Single. Time.

Truth: If you buy this argument, YOU are corrupt.

All he does is whine about being a victim all day on Twitter. We could have just gotten any Cultural Studies major at Hampshire College if that was what the presidency required.

And their trust fund would have covered their salary just like Trump.

That's because, as everyone knows, the truth would prove Trump guilty.

Reminds me of that Leonard Cohen song:

Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died

Congress wasn't going to look into it, and dims sure as hell weren't going to look into Biden corruption. You certainly didn't have any problem with abuse of power when Trump was illegally investigated by a political rival.

Trump wasn't illegally investigted by a political rival unless you consider Comey and Mueller political rivals when they conducted their legal investigations into Russian election interference and the hacking of the DNC. Then you have team trump trying to find a way to use those stolen emails before they even became public knowledge.

Start with the biggest fish: domestic defense spending

That would actually be classic Mitch McConnell if this was all a set up. The turtle plays dirty and don't stop for breaks. Ask Aesop.

I've thought all along that witness were an acceptable option for senate republicans. Not allowing them contains the chances of something going wrong, so that's always option A. However, there was a good reason house dems didn't want the witnesses they didn't want, and the senate should insist on hearing from all of them including the Bidens and the whistle blower(s) (and his/her sponsors and editors). It wouldn't be a surprise at all if option B was the McConnell trap for the dims ... be careful what you wish for ... This has always been about politics and the next election. If no witnesses make republicans look like they are hiding something then that's points for dems; so you give dems what they claim they want and let them know it's scorched earth time ... they can either decline and lose face, or just lose, but they aren't winning.

First it was the transcript...then the Whistleblower would testify..then WGHN before every witness in the House....now they want to go down a different path after denying every single witness the GOP requested...Schiff is pathetic

Reminds me of a post last week or so that referenced the same song with the same lyrics quoted. You know the one one in which luther replied to by referencing Concrete Blonde? Just rehash of the same hash. Here's another for you to re-quote next week.

Everybody seems to wonder
What it's like down here
I gotta get away
from this day-to-day
running around,
Everybody knows
this is nowhere.

Everybody, everybody knows
Everybody knows.

That's all they've got left..they are throwing the kitchen sink trying to keep this sinking ship of their impeachment going

Anyone else betting that Biden sees opportunity in keeping the impeachment lunacy going? It certainly ties up some of his primary competition ... but a Biden would never stoop to something as low as anonymous "news" droppings to keep the pot stirred in his favor.

Discuss amongst yourselves

Change the laws. No ambiguity. Black and white. Succinct, to the point, and no room for interpretation.

Once again, an issue of career politicians (and lawyers) who don't do sh** in D.C..

Seemingly, the laws on the books, and the ability to bend and take opposing trains of thought on the same words that currently exist as the R's and D's are, is a problem. Fix it. Spell the sh** out so that 1st graders could read, and tell you what is said.
