The Impeachment Thread

I guess as an engineer, I'm sort of a fatalist. You don't get to predict with statistics that gravity will lighten up and be nice to you. That if you do this, 32.2 becomes 15 and all will be good - it doesn't work that way when you deal with hard truths. That's the problem with too many segments of our society and economy ... there aren't hard truths, but there are lots of projections and fanciful analyses. Maybe we'd be better suited with people who deal with hard fact in decision making capacities; but, hey, those people are boring, and most of them don't have the egos that drive them to elected positions or top corporate positions - could be because we realize we can't leap tall buildings ... because there's gravity.

Yea. You remember when the projections with Clinton in only several years the debt would be paid down. I was really proud of that and thought our government just might be competent. Then reality hit. Boy was I naive.

Strict term limits = less spending = debt under control someday.

Maybe..

It's a start ... along with campaign finance reform, and we really need legislation to stay on topic. One piece of needed legislation winds up including pages and pages of other stuff that somebody wants but can't stand on merit. Unfortunately congress makes congressional rules, so it's not happening; they aren't going to limit their power.

I am seeing some talk that sequestration may be coming back this year and also talk in circles that military spending will be curtailed in next several years.

Some sanity has returned to the FF. Although as the off season goes on, expect wild fantasy to explode as lack of football games causes an increase in stir crazy fans.

There is no telling what Trump will do early in his second term. That is when you can do all sorts of stuff as you still have the political victory capital and no worries about another election.

Edit: Of course I do not need to tell you that. I sound like BB.

I don't know. It looks to be where you can send/receive a conversation to someone here in any VN forum.
I know I haven't used it at all. Don't know why I would.
messaging used to be turned on, but was apparently abused. Freak turned it off. Admins can still use it to tell you you've stepped over a line.

And VolProf can use it to squash Bible quotes in the wild, I think.

seems you still haven't read my post. I asked for data (facts, figures, etc) from the bible and he quoted none. That's not being childish it's simply stating facts. Neither you nor OD seem able to do the same. Bet you're getting lots of likes though. Use them to buy yourself something nice in the vn store
Wait.....theres a store?????

Where have I ever made the claim she did? Dems don't campaign on cutting spending like the right does. At least they're honest about that

It's not about whether you said anything about Nancy. I merely made the point that although both parties are to blame, Republicans are less to blame because at least they've tried to cut spending.

No doubt that military spending is out of control and needs some real guidance, but sequestration didn't seem to be the answer at all. A lot of stuff was thrown out to keep favored programs. If you go to military news sites, you'll get just a sampling like military housing horrors because housing was turned over to unethical contractors to manage. Major changes in commissaries that hurt lower ranks - groceries that are no longer sold at cost plus a service fee, but now using an easily manipulated market basket comparison with retail grocers. Changes in military medicine. But we're pumping out hugely expensive stealth aircraft with maintainability problems when other countries are figuring out how to make stealth less stealthy and aircraft carriers with all new and reliability prone systems. And one driver for those issues is a congress that brings home the bacon to defense contractors in their neighborhoods. Sequestration makes it more cutthroat, and then there's the catch up to fix the problems once sequestration is lifted. We need to figure out what it takes to protect our interests rather than spend resources everywhere else. Oh, yeah, the never ending fashion parade - what color are BDUs going to be this year, and now the Army is going retro.

You do what the left wants. If you aren't in the socialist/progressive camp, they want you in the fence rider camp. You aren't a friend but you aren't the enemy. Grow a pair. You will have to pick sides in your lifetime.
Stop being a dumbass. You don't have to be a sheep. It's okay to have your own opinions and believe in them.

And it takes a bigger pair to walk your own path than it does to follow along someone else's.
