The Impeachment Thread

Except that the victory laps are all ignoring the private testimony.

“No first hand knowledge!!! Never talked to Trump!!!” None of that is going to hold up in the long run.
What I’m saying is there is no private testimony that is relevant. If Schitt had Trumps balls nailed to the wall it would have already been all over CNN, MSNBC, CBS, EIEIO with him just grinning like a Cheshire Cat. The fact that he’s still in sell mode is quite telling for the present day machine that is DC.

I'll say to you as i said to mick about the mueller investigation.... This is not going to turn out like you think it will... Save it for posterity.

Most agree that Trump will be impeached in the House and then the Senate will try to put Hunter Biden and Joe Biden on trial and then absolve Trump.

This will all lead to a very close and contentious election where the President will have a few advantages: incumbency, Electoral College edge, unlimited financial resources, and booming economic conditions.

In short, 2020 would be a landslide for a generic Republican, but is in question with Trump.

What do you disagree with here?

I read on the internet someone saw my daughter getting a cookie before dinner once when she was 3. She put the cookie back when she saw me, but since she had broken a rule, I initiated a punishment of no desert that evening. At dinner, she came up with the genius idea to showing me how no cookies were missing from the cookie pack and therefore no crime had happened.

I saw you with your hand on the cookie, and the cookie going to your mouth, I said.

I just wanted to smell a cookie, she said.

No, you were about to eat that cookie, I said.

No I wasn't, she said. See all the cookies are here. And then I woke up.

This, folks, is the exact same toddler logic the GOP case against impeachment rests upon right now.

Seems about right. You left of one other Trump advantage, though, which is the boost he will receive from Russian intelligence efforts.

I say back to you: Look at the poll results here. A microcosm of our society, but politically astute people. Trump may actually be convicted if Dems can prove it very convincingly. Couldn't happen to a more deserving jerk.

I’m the one still in the camp of “they haven’t proven anything” remember? In fact I can remember an assessment from yourself on yesterday’s **** show that the case was fairly weak in a four point post you made?

Also I was in here yesterday. Couldn’t get to a TV but fortunately I can mail it in a tad for a week or so thus I camped on VNPF mostly.

And if trump were innocent, he would allow everyone to testify who has 1st hand knowledge.
Would not be smart to set that precedent. You will never see that with any administration or any of other Department.
Yeah, we'll just send them all over to let you question into eternity. Not going to happen and his attorneys would be foolish to allow it.

4 years ago if any of yall told me I'd be considered a redhat on this forum I'd call bulls#$t but the Democrats have been so insane that they leave no choice but for a bloody independent to defend him against their stupidity. Amazing.

Thanks for sharing. Now put on your hat and tune in the Dan Bongino Show for further instructions.

It's people like you who let OJ walk.

I thought Mick's post was so spot on it bared repeating.
Ask yourself, why was OJ found not guilty. Exact same with Trumpers and their assessment of Trump's guilt.

In the court of law it must beyond a shadow of a doubt. There you go, the state could not prove it's case to the jury members beyond a shadow of a doubt. The end. Far better to let a guilty man walk than to make the mistake of sending an innocent man to jail. That is how our system is set up.

Sad thing is that FOR 3 YEARS the Dims have been trying to find something on Trump....anything. They still have jack squat. Where is the evidence for any of this???? Russia collusion? Nothing. Ukraine? Nothing. There is an election in a year. The American people will likely re-elect Trump over any of the dim candidates, and that drives the left crazy. So crazy that they are willing to grind Washington to a halt for nothing more than hear say. This proves one thing: Liberals are even more brain damaged than I ever thought.

Can you explain this narrative you’ve chosen? I don’t see how it makes any difference what it’s called.

The quid pro quo was witnessed by Vindman (and Fiona Hill?) admitted to by Sondland and Mulvaney, and testified to by Taylor. Taylor testified that they’d been thinking about leveraging White House visits since June and in September Sondland told him explicitly that they were withholding “everything” until the investigation was announced.

Why do you think it’s significant that, after establishing that the administration made an explicit quid pro quo (which is an element of solicitation of a bribe and is another word for extortion) the “prosecution” has telegraphed its intent to pursue the other elements of that offense?
Pretty simple. It’s called moving goalposts. And Sondland presumed.

That post was about what was proven yesterday, only. Not considering the depositions.

You say they haven’t proven anything but then when you cite to “If they had, it would be on the news” which makes it seem like you’re not really paying attention even to the news and haven’t followed what is actually happening.

Why do you think this place was spammed with articles about Vindman being a deep state spy for the better part of 2 weeks?

  • Where Was Madame Speaker After the Hearing? Her Absence Speaks Volumes
No matter how the Democrats try to spin it, the first day of public hearings did not go well for them. From Rep. Devin Nunes’ (R-CA) powerful opening statement, to the brutal cross-examinations of Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH), John Ratcliffe (R-TX) and other Republicans, the weakness, the partisan nature and yes, even the frivolity of their case against the President was exposed. The ultimate indicator that the day had been a bust for Democrats was the absence of a press conference from their fearless leader, Nancy Pelosi. Where was Madame Speaker after the hearing?
Pelosi issued a brief statement to CNN. She said, “What has come forth has further, of course, given us the truth of what happened at the time.” She told CNN she was “consumed with other legislative matters — prescription drugs, Dreamers, appropriations and the US-Mexico-Canada trade agreement today,” but that she had “caught a few minutes” of the beginning of the hearing.
