The (many) indictments of Donald Trump

Bragg is playing 3-D chess and taking it on his own initiative to do this or he's coordinating with other entities?
I thought is was all Soros. Or maybe the illuminati.

I really want nothing more than for Trump to fade away because enough republicans know it's for the best.
That is the only win that can be had at this point.

I too want him to fade away but I won't presume to tell others who they should support. I certainly don't want him to fade away via politically motivated justice system actions - him nor any other politician.

He needs to fade away because what he represents has finally been rejected. There is no other way, and that has been true since 2015.

what are your thoughts on Bragg not revealing what crime(s) he claims Trump violated?
I haven’t had time to read the indictment and I’ve never had a comparable case, legally.

Just based on reading snippets on here it sounds deficient and I’d be looking at options for challenging it. My expectation, based on how pleadings are treated in TN, is that the prosecutor has the option of curing the indictment with a superseding indictment until the trial starts, so it’s probably not something I’d raise in a motion until I have the chance to move for acquittal (after a jury is sworn). In a high profile case like this, moving for dismissal and making them go fix their janky indictment is probably a viable strategy.

Edit: I’m not saying it’s definitely deficient. I don’t know that for sure. There was a case that made headlines in Chattanooga not long ago where the defendant had given a couple of statements to law enforcement on the same day and the state had charged her with false reports but didn’t specify which statement contained the false report. It wasn’t my case. The issue didn’t get litigated. My expectation is that the indictment would have been deemed to be sufficient, just based on experience.

That’s a word salad.

What I’m trying to say is sometimes defendants aren’t given a full picture of their charged crimes and that’s apparently legally ok.

This seems to cross the line. But it’s not super clear to me where the line is according to the law and I often disagree with where judges say it is, so tifwiw.

Regardless, I’d fight over this if it were my case.

Once again, the fact that his Attorney General didn't go along with it, does not make Donald Trump's intentions okay.

Donald Trump was all in favor of a politically-motivated prosecution of an upcoming election opponent - when he would have been the beneficiary of the prosecution.

Donald Trump = World Class Hypocrite
It was NOT that Barr did not want to go along with prosecuting Clinton, it was Trump who told Barr "..... that he had wanted the matter to be dropped after the 2016 election,” according to a review of Barr’s memoir in the fall 2022 Claremont Review of Books."

AGAIN, it was NOT Barr telling Trump to drop it but Trump telling Barr to drop it.

“I believe President Trump’s character and conduct make him unfit for office," Romney said after the former president's arraignment. "Even so, I believe the New York prosecutor has stretched to reach felony criminal charges in order to fit a political agenda."
I can respect this position.

Well said. Romney deserves respect.

Man you voted for election denying, fraud, and POS Stacy in the general election for GA Governor. I don't care who you voted for in the primary. You have zero leg to stand on to admonish people. A mirror would be good for you.
That seems like an overreaction to me saying Romney deserves respect. Quite telling. You may have some exposed nerve endings.

This is true. Lost in all the Trump news, the Left had a HUGE victory. GOP winning WI in 2024 looks almost impossible at this point. The path for any Republican to win in 2024 looks quite narrow.

As is very clear from my posts, I was not discussing the situation with Hillary Clinton ... I was discussing Trump pressuring Barr to charge Joe Biden with a crime in October of 2020, which was just 26 days prior to the election. Read that linked article I posted to Newsweek. It's very clear what Trump wanted Barr to do as far as Biden was concerned. You are trying to change the subject away from Biden.

Well he did try to overturn a free and fair presidential election. Not many things could be a greater abuse of power.

But my fear of Trump was never about "an abuse of power", it was that he would sow the seeds of hatred, increase the divide, and make us a much dumber nation. Crazy me.

Oh yeah, the leftist democrats would never do that! Geezus, You live in an alternate universe.
