The (many) indictments of Donald Trump

BS. You don’t for one second think Bragg has gone too far. If anything, you think Bragg is a savior for indicting Trump.

Bragg moved too early. Of all the investigations it's the easiest for Trump and his supporters to describe as political and they spin that as that ALL are.

Did you see Trump tonight? That was his main approach. Attack this one as political and therefore meritless.... then list the others in the same vein as political and therefore also meritless.

The lies he told tonight were astounding. That he was in negotiations to return documents and that's why he went through them when subpoenaed?

Absolutely no one believes that. Not for a second.

“I believe President Trump’s character and conduct make him unfit for office," Romney said after the former president's arraignment. "Even so, I believe the New York prosecutor has stretched to reach felony criminal charges in order to fit a political agenda."

I think Romney's limp wrists and unwillingness to support anything even remotely right of socialism makes him unfit to be a republican.

I just got home and read through the indictment. It is even worse than what you are saying. They are charging him with a felony for receiving the invoice, another felony for putting the debt into his ledger book, and a third felony for writing a check to the attorney. This was done for each invoice, each ledger entry, and each check.

This is insane.

Maybe they are planning to give the jury a punch card to use for the verdict and hope for a hanging chad that they can interpret wrongly. More punches = more chances.

Haven’t watched a second of it. I’m aware of what Trump is and isn’t. His mouth overloads his ass, but this is blatantly political coming from a Soros backed DA in Bragg. I do agree he may have some more concerning trouble wrt to GA.

NEW 🚨 El Salvador President Bukele’s comment on Trump indictment:

“Think what you want about former President Trump and the reasons he’s being indicted.

But just imagine if this happened in any other country, where a government arrested the main opposition candidate.

The United States ability to use “democracy” as foreign policy is gone.”

You know you've hit a new low when El Salvador is basically stating you've become a banana republic and your courts are corrupt.

so Bragg says some underlying law was violated but won't say what it is?

how on earth can a defendant mount a defense if the basis of the crime is held secret?

Apparently nobody will know until they open the courtroom doors for the trial so everyone can see what's in there ... assuming they don't hide the proceedings. And we thought Soviet justice was shady.

This is true. Lost in all the Trump news, the Left had a HUGE victory. GOP winning WI in 2024 looks almost impossible at this point. The path for any Republican to win in 2024 looks quite narrow.

The margin of victory in that election is very surprising, and it should send a message to Republicans in Wisconsin that voters in that state want women to have abortion rights. If Republicans ignore this reality, they will turn Wisconsin ice blue.

The very liberal, Janet Protasiewicz, is going to win that election by more than 200,000 votes. There is no way that would have been possible before the Dobbs v Jackson ruling last June.

I've been saying all along that the smart play for Dems is to hammer the abortion issue at the state level rather than trying to fight it at the federal level. It could give them more big wins if they let it.

I assume you are referring to this exchange.

@kiddiedoc post was so incredibly asinine, it didn't warrant a serious response.

But I'll clarify my position. It is my firm belief that we are far better off now under Biden than we would have been at this point under a 2nd Trump term. It can neither be proven or disproven.

Stated another way, however bad you view things to be now, they would have been much worse under Trump.

So in summary, I'm for reducing unnecessary pain and suffering. That's why I'm an "anybody but Trumper".

The Republicans have handled that issue about as poorly as possible. They had no real message and with an issue that required deft, precise handling they chose to wear boxing gloves.

Especially with enough Republicans like Lindsay Graham running off at the mouth to Federally legislate it.

I can't help but wonder if this whole thing is a scheme to boost Trump to the top of the Republican ticket, knowing that if he wins the nomination, he gives Democrats the best chance to win in 2024.

I've been saying that for a while.....

This dies off until December, which is conveniently right before the first R primaries....

If the GOP just adopts the Democrats platform from 10 to 15 years ago, what is the point of winning elections? Just to say you won?

Women do not have a right to murder their children, if that loses you an election then so be it.

So y'all are all good with open borders, letting Fentanyl pour into the country, mutilating children, relying on foreign energy, the crumbling economy, watching our dollar fade from the worldwide stage, and a leader who literally has to be told where to walk?

That's scary AF.
But doc, we don't have mean tweets. It's all worth it.

For all of you who are talking about a quick acquittal, you might want to remember that the jury pool is made up of people who put Bragg and Deblasio in office. I don’t know what his chances are but I would surely hope for a dismissal before this goes to a jury.
