The (many) indictments of Donald Trump

You know that and I know that, but his grandstanding perpetuates the illusion that she is somehow breaking the law or doing something she isn't supposed to be doing. It's unnecessarily divisive and completely undermines the right's argument of a "weaponized government". Remember, Trump fanatics aren't that bright, it takes a while for them to read between the lines.

I think the claim has been of a weaponized Justice Department but to go down this road, Jordan has no weapons, he has no means to do anything so his BS investigation is just a show and not an example of "weaponization".

You'd have representatives picking the representatives?

The 17th amendment was literally established to curb corruption.

Your faith in the character and altruism of our elected politicians is noted.

I understand how it was sold but as with most things done to "curb" government corruption it has had the opposite effect. It would be an interesting study to find the average tenure of senators prior to the 17th and compare that to after.

Sure it is.

Using one's government position to impede or otherwise subject unnecessary or unwarranted hardship on a political foe is no different. That the DOJ has bigger teeth is a trump problem.

You don't get to screech about "WeApoNizAtiOn!" when it suits you.

Gym Jordan is a trump lackey and would stop at nothing to shut down these indictments any means necessary. While I agree that it's political theater, the optics of him even trying are worse than the beatdown Fani Willis gave him for his efforts.

Funny that you had no problem with this from 2017 to 2021.

Jordan has no means to shut down the GA indictments, all he can do is put on a show.

Found one. And as expected the tenure of US Senators has more than doubled since the passage of the 17th amendment.

I didn't?

Well, if you say so.

Anything else you want to share about what I did or didn't have a problem with?

Hear ye hear ye!
The sixth of January,
The keyboard rebellion and plot.
I know of no reason
Why the keyboarding treason
Should ever be forgot.
Don Trump and his allies
This scheme they all wrote
To steal an election
And upset the vote.
With fake electors in tow
They tried to overthrow
But by providence were caught
For brains they had not.
And now they’re all crying
But Don still is lying
As we toss them in jail to rot.
An impressive feat of writing by ole' RockyTop,
Make sure not to pull a "Biden" and cite chatbot.:p

Let's assume for the sake of argument a grand jury did find enough that a hypothetical US senator from another state did commit a crime in GA. Is there a reason he should not be prosecuted?

They should be...

And apparently this one did because it recommended charges by brought. The DA declined to move forward with it.

Now I want to see this so called "evidence" they are using. Because Lindsey Graham talking it's not going to move the meter for me or anyone else. And if I was South Carolina, I'd be telling the local DA to **** right off for any extradition request.

This whole thing is absurd. It's ******** banana republic stuff.

Anybody reckon that Enrique, One Eyed Fred, Peter and the rest of those sad sacks have finally figured out that they’ve been conned by Rump? There’s sure a bunch going to serve time for that POS and got nothing to show for it.

I am sorry the grand jury didn't feel compelled to do what you thought they should.

Maybe your state should consider denying all fed funding.
In a perfect world that would be great.

Considering that federal funding consists of taxes extorted from citizens of the states, the only way that state is made semi-whole is federal funding returned to the state ... if the state behaves. Feds operate on extortion and blackmail. Members of congress are feds; they only "represent" the states to get the votes that keep them feds. That's why we should all be in contempt of congress ... especially when you recognize that congress controls taxation and spending - extortion and blackmail.

I think the fed need to enforce an effective border policy in a responsible and humane way, but immigration policy is constitutionally the responsibility of the federal government, so I'm not sure what role the states would be reprising.

Fine. Send all the immigrants to DC and let the feds take care of them; otherwise it is a state problem, and that even more for the southern tier of states. The US southern border is also the Texas southern border, for instance; since TX has a responsibility to the citizens of TX, then TX should also have the right to shut down their section of the US southern border.

It’s definitely double edged sword. I do think Texas is the one state that might be able to pull it off if they had to, andI do agree with your line of thinking that other states wouldn’t do so well, unfortunately TN being one of them.

It would need to be a bloc of states seceding in our case, the rub comes in that GA has apparently gone over to the Dark Side. It's a shame when a deep southern state in the SEC can't even really be considered southern.

I don't think they are going to charge them, but man that would be interesting if states started prosecuting each others senators/house members.

I could get behind that just for the sheer entertainment value. Besides imagine all the fun in going after "people" like Pelosi, Schumer, and other assorted Schiff. Who knows maybe lifetime politicians would consider making the world a better place and doing something else.

I wonder how much of that is due to Chinese funding. I remember there was some speculation about Kemp being essentially a Chinese agent with them backing him financially.

Respect the constitution unless I don't like the part of the constitution at issue.

That's an excellent, "I shouldn't have to pay taxes," rant.

Does the state extort when it taxes?
