The murder of Ahmaud Arbery

I don’t hate the police. My wife works in the prosecution side of the criminal justice system.

Police NEED to have a legitimate reason to stop someone. It’s absolutely over policing. There was no infraction or threat to public safety. His reaction was just that. A reaction to being stopped and detained with no probable cause.

You’re just another latent racist.
LOL.....you know you've won the argument when the only comeback is "well, if police don't let people do whatever they want to, then they are racist and so are you". If they saw a car parked in a grassy area where cars aren't meant to go, then that is reason enough. Calling them racist when they let him go when they could have busted him shows how they were overpolicing I guess. It's amazing the mental gymnastics people like you go through to attack anything the police do.

These people have cried "racism" so much, you can never take their arguments seriously. Police stop white people ALL THE TIME in similar circumstances and there usually is no outcry. Go hang out at KARM and see what happens there during a day and what white, black, Hispanic people's interaction with police are

What a stupid, mischaracterization of what I said.

They let him go because a wiser, superior officer showed up and requested account of the stop. They realized how bad this looked.

They already had agreed to let him go and cut him a break by not towing the vehicle or arresting him. The "wiser superior" officer is just a supervisor and it's a common occurrence that they show up on calls if they are out.

Dude looks pretty fit in the 2017 video. Why is it so hard to believe he's a jogger or a runner?
The narrative was overplayed as usual. Just like Michael Brown was a gentle giant, going to college and Trayvon was Obama's son. They acted like he was some avid jogger that ran for health reasons when it's pretty obvious he didn't. Now, none of that excuses the McMichaels from their charges, just setting the record straight that somehow black joggers are gunned down at alarming rate when it was never ever ever mentioned prior to the video coming out. Now there are all these "stories" of black joggers feeling threatened while jogging when FBI stats show a completely different story to where the threats lie for them.

You're really passionate about it.

You're really passionate about it.
Damn right I'm passionate about it. Calvin Munerlyn gets shot in the head by 2 thugs, leaves 8 children behind all because he was doing his job as a security guard at a Family Dollar and noone calls him some hero or hashtag this or that...and not a damn thing is said or talked about him being some hero.

Also, everything they are trying to extrapolate from this murder is false. Blacks aren't killed at some alarming rate while jogging through white neighborhoods, much less by whites at all.....but yet that is all the rage on the news cycles now.

You're throwing a bunch of yourself on this, but that's what passionate people do I guess.

Odd that you referred to the black suspects in the Munerlyn murder as “thugs” but never once referred to the white suspects in the Ahmaud murder as “thugs”.

Imagine being upset at calling two guys "thugs" who executed a father of eight for doing nothing more than his job. But but but you didn't call these others idiots thugs....so racist!

Sorry, you have shown me the error of my white privilege. 2 "gentle giants, who were on their way to college, they loved learnin', loved to read, how they 'spose ta live then?" murdered Calvin Munerlyn. Feel better? Probably not, since you didn't give a damn about his murder anyway since neither he nor Dexter Ranz were politically convenient enough for you to care about.

Whether you agree or not, I don't know but I do know selective outrage/compassion when I see it and this is one case of it. Why is one murder worse than another? Why can't it just be evil people murdered Calvin Munerlyn and Dexter Ranz and evil people murdered Aubrey Arbery?

He doesn't have the right to pull his car off the road onto others' property. Same as he doesn't have the right to go inside other people's house

I bet he doesn't do it again.

The first officer was fine in his actions, the one who tried to use the taser is poorly trained and was scared that he was going for a weapon when he likely was trying to pull his stupid pants up. Which is interesting since both McMichael and the other guy stated Arbery looked like he was going for a weapon during that other alleged incident with him.
Arbery's reaction seems to be one of defensive anger a lot when he is being questioned over doing something wrong
Did they actually state that Arbery looked liked he was going for a weapon? I remember McMichael saying he stuck his hand in his pocket and then saying he went for his waist.

Who has said one is worse than the other?

Why is there so much crying about one murder verses another? Good grief.

It is income and location not race. When income and population density are similar crime rates are the same across different races.

No I got his point with his "black on black crime" bs.

There is no such thing as black on black crime. Its just crime. Not unless white crime is white on white crime.
Oh..bless your heart child.

Well, I mean the others have been pretty much completely ignored so that tells you how people view one versus the other. Especially the Dexter Ranz one where the pastor at his funeral called out the community on Black Lives Matter...yet....no coverage. No hashtags or facebook ramblings about not being to stand in your own front yard, etc.

I just don't understand complaining about other murders/killings in this thread or vice versa.

I don't watch the news and don't keep up with stories like this. Only reason this one caught my eye was someone in another forum talking about the video and how others were in here defending the McMichaels.

Seems the logical thing to do is start a thread about the ones you're upset about.

if you believe in existence of prevalent institutional racism than there is really no reason to ask the question. you already know the answer. watching the (failed)tazing video does make me wonder what is wrong with people to respond in such a way towards lawful authority. acting like that is likely to get someone shot.
