The murder of Ahmaud Arbery

Are you suggesting that the consequences of walking around an open construction site include being chased by gun-toting vigilantes and shot dead in the street?
That's not what I'm suggesting at all. I don't know all the information. I don't know anything else that transpired outside of what's been made public.

Neither do you. Nobody in this thread does, and nobody can pretend otherwise. All I know is that for all the "fear" of white people that's apparently there makes it weird that this guy would choose to go out and exercise in a white neighborhood fifteen miles from his home.

The only reason this is news is because it's incredibly rare for white people to kill black people. Incredibly rare. And its going to be difficult, like it or not, to get most people to care about this when the guy's life highlights are that he played high school football and has a criminal record. I always hate when these things blow up because it's painfully obvious what the intent is behind the coverage, yet so many fall for it.

Quite a lot has been made public. You need only see the video and read the 911 transcripts, police report, and the statement of the homeowner to blow massive holes in the "citizen's arrest" defense.

Still blows my mind that people think it's okay to go in these houses.

I'm currently in the market for a new weed eater. Instead of reading reviews online, I might just survey what my neighborhood likes. Anyone with an open garage door I might just slip inside and check out the different weedeaters on the market. I promise not to touch anything. Does anyone think this acceptable?

He didn't say that at all. I would venture to say he likely also agrees they shouldn't have done what they did.

You don't get the difference? Seriously?

Are you implying that you know everything about this case?

Anyway, my opinion is this: this is a case of three morons playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes.

People are acting like total rubes and gotten wrapped up in this as if this event itself actually tells us something about the state of America. That's the wrong focus.

He mentioned "consequences" for "both parties." What should the consequence be for Arbery? We know what it wound up being.

I don't want to speak for him. In my opinion his death was unnecessary as the McMichaels had no business escalating the situation, however I will continue to say if you put yourself in these situations then the risk of something bad happening goes up.

What situation did Arbery put himself in?

I would agree with that. This isn't about America, or the South, or even the state of Georgia. This is about some peckerwood local officials looking out for their peckerwood buddies.

I mean, that’s what happened. They saw some video footage of a guy trespassing. They somehow were able to take that grainy video and link it to Arbery. They then hunted him down like a dog and killed him.

And they were wrong in doing so. They should be punished if the case shows what we think we saw based on what has been released.

Damn right I'm passionate about it. Calvin Munerlyn gets shot in the head by 2 thugs, leaves 8 children behind all because he was doing his job as a security guard at a Family Dollar and noone calls him some hero or hashtag this or that...and not a damn thing is said or talked about him being some hero.

Also, everything they are trying to extrapolate from this murder is false. Blacks aren't killed at some alarming rate while jogging through white neighborhoods, much less by whites at all.....but yet that is all the rage on the news cycles now.
It’s a story because the very white dudes that shot him released the video.
