The murder of Ahmaud Arbery

I don’t think there as much work left to do as some people think.

And I respectfully disagree…the revelation in this case was the crooked DA protecting a former police investigator, and almost getting away with it.

I doubt this was her first rodeo…makes you wonder how many innocent people are in jail, or guilty people waking free under her corrupt watch.

The work that needs to be done is leveling the playing field in resources. It’s disparity in justice isn’t so much a racial issue as it is an economic issue, poor people of all colors get screwed in the criminal justice system. Crying racial inequality is a crutch.

I can agree with that.

The problem is, the guy who said we have work to do, was referring to the case the jury actually got right.
I agree there’s plenty of work to do. I completely disagree with the point the President made. The jury got that one right. If he wasn’t a moron he’d have said “it’s a step in the right direction for justice”

Maybe someone can help explain this to me:
Travis McMichael, who shot Ahmaud Arbery, was convicted of all charges. His father Greg McMichael was found not guilty of malice murder, but guilty of four counts of felony murder and four additional felony counts.

Multiple included offenses. He could potentially appeal and have some convictions overturned while some stand.

What do you want explained? What felony murder is in Georgia? Pretty sure it's in this thread somewhere. (I'm not being rude, I'm saying I think a few peeps have explained the charges.)

You'd be surprised.

It really depends on who you talk to. VN seems to be full of deniers. I doubt many here would have believed that a big city PD would be filthy with discrimination against black cops, but now we know that it happens because of Balko's thorough investigation of Little Rock PD.

Felony murder is when you commit a felony that contributes to someone's untimely death. Say you rob a bank and security kills a bystander, you'd be charged with felony murder

So if I’m understanding this correctly, he committed four separate felonies that led to one death … correct?

That's what I understand. They sentenced him to life for one of them and the rest were vacated because he was sentenced for the first count. Then he got an additional 20 for aggravated assault.
