The murder of Ahmaud Arbery

A busted taillight doesn’t mean you can’t possess a firearm
Oh, you are not seeing where I'm going with this. Police ask citizens all the time during traffic stops if there are any weapons in the vehicle. I've always been of the opinion that cops such as yourself are fully aware that carrying a gun is not a crime, yet cops still feel the need to ask anyways. They should assume every car has a gun because the 2A is the law of the land.

None of the articles I've read support McMichael having witnessed something same day. They also don't support him telling the deceased he had called the police. I've read several articles now and cannot find anything to support what has been said. McMichael apparently asked the deceased to stop and said they wanted to talk to him, at which time the son exited the vehicle, shotgun in hand.

Everything I've read states in his statement to the police he said he saw the guy running and told his son it was the "guy from the other night" that he thought he saw and they took after him.

911 transcript:

Greg McMichael: “I’m out here at Satilla Shores and there’s a black man running down the street."

911 dispatcher: “I just need to know what he was doing wrong, was he just on the premises and not supposed to be?”

Greg McMichael: “And he’s been caught on the camera a bunch before at night. It’s an ongoing thing out here.”

Interesting, doesn't say he personally witnessed anything criminal immediately before the chase.

Interesting... it took this thread to finally show your lawyer wisdom.

Ehh they are asking because of officer safety. The law abiding people will honestly tell the truth. The criminals will give tells and signs that will alert an officer that they need to be careful. I only asked people who I already suspected of being involved in actual criminal things not ever person I dealt with

Again, the 2A is the law of the land. You should assume every car has weapon and act accordingly. Like you just said in here, carrying a gun is not a crime.

I'm sure it is in your reality.

And I'm sure in this totally believable version said rednecks would have just taken the word of the guy they chased with guns.

I was being facetious. And I only call them rednecks because you did to justify your point of view. BTW, who calls others rednecks when they themself claim to be from Racoon City?

But the math doesn't add up. 19 in 2012 and 25 in 2020. How did he only age 6 years in 8 years?

There's a really good series on Netflix about the Innocence Project. One episode is all about how bad people are at making cross-racial identifications. Doesn't maintain we're inherently racist, just more attuned to subtle differences in appearance in members of our own race, who we're more likely to grow up around and interact with.

Here's some more on this issue: NY Juries Must be Briefed on Problems with Cross-Racial Identification

And the Netflix episode: Innocence Files: What Happened To Thomas Haynesworth

This is a very interesting situation. I'm not sure if I totally agree with the highlighted. I think citizens do play a role in policing their neighborhoods, also. However, what I do believe is that these two guys bungled this and went about a citizens arrest in the wrong manner...

What is you opinion on the highlighted statement?
I would not necessarily agree with that statement. You should have the right to track down any malfeasance with a gun on property that you own or have a mutual agreement to protect. The way I see it if they had an agreement with the builder to protect the construction site they would be in the right to approach a trespasser armed. Once the threat is removed or flees the the property assuming they don’t have an agreement to protect the surrounding property, they have no cause to initiate force. In this case it appears the suspected trespasser is in the street being pursued by armed men who have no right to initiate force unless force or the threat of force is initiated on them.

Also..while this will get sensationalized because White people were involved, blacks being killed in Georgia is an everyday occurrence. Old. Middle Aged. Young, doesn't matter.

For example: 7 year old killed by a dude named Shunderrious....

2nd suspect arrested in deadly shooting of 7-year-old boy

People also like shooting people on I-75/I-85. But its black on black so no one apparently cares outside of the metro area.

No one has demanded ole Shundo get hit with terrorism charges..

They claim he was looking in the window of a house that was under construction.
It doesn’t sound good for those two in the truck..... I hope they investigate to the fullest and find out all the details.... i hope they prosecute these two guys to the fullest if everything is the way it appears.

Sounds like Shunderious was arrested. Maybe that's the difference? This isn't complicated...

He was. That's not the point. The point is senseless violence happens all the time here in Georgia. Kids dying from random drive byes for example.. But no one bats an eye because its just black on black crime. A White person gets involved then its white supremacist nazi terrorism and people have protests and political figures have to speak out about it. Kind of shows how certain people pretty much don't care about other certain people unless it can fuel their agenda.

After a night's contemplation I've come to a simple conclusion. Overt action has resulted in a violent death and there is sufficient ambiguity to have this presented to a GJ. I suspect it more than likely, based on the severity of outcome and that ambiguity, to be true billed and we end up with manslaughter charges being hashed out in court.

This just in. Don't get armed and hunt down anyone unless you are the police, especially if the 911 operator told you not to.

Arming oneself and going into pursuit mode based on "suspicion" is a very bad plan.

It looks like there was a struggle for the weapon. That is going to very much matter in how things play out at trial. (which is where it should be heading as you pointed out)

This looks like flat out murder to me. They were hunting the guy and initiated this. They both should be served life but this is solely based on what we've seen so far.

I still don't get why the thinks the POTUS needs to address this. That just seems dumb. So I tweet the POTUS something and bow out my chest that he needs to address it and think I should get a response? If it's that easy I need to start tweeting my celebrity crush. I'm not sure that will end well.

Also this doesn't seem to be a case of terrorism, maybe racism.
