Without reading the entire thread does the shooters story differ from the video? Got a feeling this will be similar to the Zimmerman case in Flordia. Dumb ass gung ho morons confront and kill black dude in wrong neighborhood after series of local crimes.

Criminal is not really my cup of tea.

My opinion, is unless the two men caught this guy in the act and were chasing him, they have no ability to arrest some random black man because he is running down the road. Charge them. Convict them and put their asses in jail.

IMO the dudes in the truck will go down for something, unlike Zimmerman. The Zimmerman incident was incredibly politicized but I was surprised he wasn't convicted on at least a lesser charge either.

You have to consider what brought the guys to the "scene" so to speak in the first place...they armed themselves and went on the hunt for a guy they thought was breaking into houses. The video doesn't show/prove much otherwise...I'm not sure why Arbery runs past the truck then charges the guy with the shotgun, but the guys admitted they were out looking for someone.

The outrage is over these guys escaping prosecution, especially given one had ties to the DA's office. Not everyone commenting is "agenda" driven. For many commenting in this thread, color is not even a factor.

I don't think this fits the definition of murder unless you believe the actual point of their going after him included intent to kill. That would be exceedingly difficult to prove in court and frankly I don't believe it the case anyway. Look for involuntary manslaughter to be the most likely charge.

It's silly to me to think POTUS is supposed to be addressing something like this...that office has other things to do.

You are right. After I posted I thought about maybe re-editing it to include that but I was in my car..didnt wanna text and drive. What I want to know is what story they told that led to no charges being filed. The video evidence obviously is new..at least to the public.

I see this as manslaughter. Guys with guns tracking down some dude is stupid but the black guy attacked them first. Its going to be a mess no matter what and no one will be satisfied with the outcome.

The father had worked with the DA's office and the son had a history in law enforcement. That alone stinks to high hell as to why they weren't initially charged. The county DA had to recuse herself, as did the DA of a neighboring county. Now a third DA has been appointed and plans to bring it to a grand jury, but the grand jury is currently delayed due to the shutdown over Corona.

Manslaughter, I agree. You can't prove intent to murder. You can prove their actions directly led to the man's death.

I'm not a cop, so obviously I can't say how I would feel. But if I was a cop I think I'd view wannabe cops (or ex-cops trying to be cops again, like the dad in this story was) with annoyance or disdain, not behavior I'd try and justify.

Along a similar vein gun owners don't really want this sort of thing going on. I'm a staunch 2A guy and shenanigans like this do nothing but create fodder for the anti's.

Exactly how I feel. This is precisely the kind of thing that gun grabbers fear. If I'm just looking at this case selfishly, I still arrive at the same conclusion because this doesn't help protect my 2A rights.
