The murder of Ahmaud Arbery

It is that simple. Turn right and hop fence.

Do you think I'd give a crap about about running through someone's yard if there's someone in a truck that appears to be threatening me with a shotgun?

Put yourself in that spot. You're 30 or so feet out from a stopped truck and a guy standing there with a shotgun. You're going to run at him? Or will you realize you can actually leave paved surface and try to run where they can't easily follow you?
So the guy being threatened with a shotgun is the one who should have picked the correct coarse of action?

Truck behind him, truck in front of him, how was he possibly supposed to believe they wouldn't start shooting if he took off? What looks like common sense after the fact isn't always logical in the moment. And like I said, he isn't outrunning a bullet.

We'll never know what he was thinking because he's dead. It's not hard for me to imagine he was scared as hell. Whether or not he actually did anything, he's being pursued by two vehicles, one of which obviously has two armed men. Maybe he tried running around the truck, praying they weren't really after him, but saw the son with the shotgun advancing and in that split second decided he had to fight for his life? Not unreasonable to think. But we'll never know, because he's dead, and the actions of the father and son, and even the filming vehicle, led to his death.
You can't see me Weeze, but I'm nodding my head agreeing with you every time you post.

Although that was a DUI, didn't they determine that that really didn't make a difference? Maybe I'm misremembering, but didn't the guy just dart out in front of Stallworth on a freeway.
After a night drinking at a bar in Miami Beach's Fountainebleau hotel, police said Stallworth hit Reyes, a construction crane operator who was rushing to catch a bus after finishing his shift around 7:15 a.m. Stallworth told police he flashed his lights in an attempt to warn Reyes, who was not in a crosswalk when he was struck.
Stallworth had a blood-alcohol level of .126 after the crash, well above Florida's .08 limit. Stallworth stopped after the crash and immediately told officers he had hit Reyes. Police estimated Stallworth was driving about 50 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Donte' Stallworth began serving a 30-day jail sentence Tuesday for killing a pedestrian while driving drunk in Florida, a punishment made possible by his cooperation with investigators and the fervent wish by the victim's family to put the matter behind them.

Stallworth, 28, also reached a confidential financial settlement with the family of 59-year-old Mario Reyes, a construction worker struck and killed early on March 14 by Stallworth, driving drunk in his black 2005 Bentley.

Aka rich person paid off the victim's family and only poor people go to jail.

No, this would have gotten traction in the media if the races were reversed or if the players were all the same race. It's news when two armed idiots defy police orders, pursue a man and wind up killing him.

It was also news that one of the suspects had enough juice at the DA's office to prevent them from filing charges for two months.

I may have been wrong, these two hicks may be on the business end of a powder keg with a lit fuse.

Probably Georgia fans. Eff em'
Their stupidity has put them right in the middle of a giant **** storm and at least one of them is going to prison

It's unbelievable that there are people on this board trying to find a way to blame this tragedy on the black man....the hunted down and murdered...black man. Pretty f******* pathetic.

‘I Know Where You Live’: Shaun King Appears To Issue Public Threat Against Men Arrested For Murder Of Ahmaud Arbery

Social media activist Shaun King appeared to post a public threat against the two men who have since been arrested and charged with the murder of Ahmaud Arbery.

“To Gregory & Travis McMichael,” the warning began according to journalist Andy Ngo. “I need you to know that I know where you live and where you are hiding out. Right now I’m the only thing keeping about 150 different from people killing you [sic].”

The Facebook post was archived, although it appears that part of King’s message may be blocked. King’s threat is no longer available for viewing on Facebook.
It probably wouldn’t be too hard to find Mr. King either. Making threats like that is incredibly reckless. This world is full of loons.

Typically the truth lies somewhere in the middle..... I’m sure there’s more to the story than what’s being told.

The bold is what I can't understand.
Me either, but then again I’ve never had two armed black dudes block the road and confront me like that.... I’m still amazed that he chose to attack the guy with the shot gun. I think I’d have just kept jogging..... which makes me wonder if this was the first encounter they had.... if it wasn’t... there’s no way I’d be casually running in the street.

I don't think anyone is blaming this on the victim, at least I'm not. I just wish he had kept running so he would still be alive.

You made my own point. He had no way of knowing their intent. He had no way of knowing their accuracy. Hell, put away the assumption that he was actually guilty of something himself, and maybe he thought they would let him be until the son started advancing from around the truck? If he felt he wasn't guilty of anything, why would he have veered off and made himself look suspicious? And by the time he realized they were looking to detain him, it was too late to run. All possibilities, but AGAIN, we'll never know his side of the story.

People keep assuming he was this burglar/prowler/whatever, but we don't know that with any certainty.

Weezer we are on the same page with this. This common sense eludes some yet they say Darwin was right. How ironic!

You haven't been looking hard enough.
I'm not so defensive about it. I see it as a series of events, trying to figure out why it happened and the "what ifs" that could have lead to a better outcome. That is not blaming the victim for what happened. But that's my take, if you believe someone is putting the blame on the victim for this happening, that may be them, but it may be you.

Ok, I've done some digging and maybe I was giving the shooters a little too much credit. The guy with the video apparently was with them, a part of corraling the victim it appears. It tells more like maybe this was more premeditated than a simple case of cowboy gone wrong.

I won't apologize for giving the benefit of the doubt and letting the facts come to light before drawing a hard opinion either way. Still not convinced but feel the evidence coming to light so far is taking my opinions on the case in a little different direction it seems.

It's a really sad situation regardless of where the truth lies.

Two families are destroyed, and careers are likely to go down in flames as well.

Just seems weird coming from a man who killed someone while DUI.

Ehhh, the guy jaywalked across a 5-lane causeway. I've slept off a drunk and woke up at 5 am and drove home, perfectly capable and feeling good but may have been over the legal limit. I bet there are plenty of us here who have done that.
