Have you actually read this thread? That's not the narrative of the majority of posters. Most have said Arbery's actions beforehand were suspicious, not that he was just out for a jog. We've also maintained they didn't warrant grabbing guns and pursuing him. What we've also stated is we have no idea of Arbery's motives or what he was thinking, and because he's dead, he can't be asked. This is not true. All we’ve heard for days is how he was just out for jog. The video of him in the home clearly contradicts that.
Now I don’t think it was right to take the law into their own hands, and believe they should be punished. But this narrative that a black guy was just simply run down for being black is not true.
So are you lumping this incident with other police shootings?Dunno about them but I certainly dislike the police because of **** like this.
I thought he was shot two miles from his house? Around here two miles wouldn't be considered not your neighborhood. That may be true in regards to the people with whom you associate, but I’m not remotely surprised by this revelation. Birds of a weird feather and all, you know?
Probably has something to do with him not living in the neighborhood and a man meeting his description recently engaging in identical behavior. Ahmaud didn’t deserve to die, but pretending as if there’s no possibility he was casing the joint is strange.
That's kind of the whole point, he didn't deserve to die. These guys didn't see Arbery steal anything, they weren't pursuing him to recover stolen property. They were trying to do the job of the police by stopping and questioning a subject. Hell, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that federal charges of violating this man's civil rights could be pursued. The whole citizen arrest BS being argued, by their own words they've never stated that as their intent. nor did they identify that intent to Arbery. According to the father, they said "Stop! Stop, we want to talk to you!" Never once did they state their intent. That may be true in regards to the people with whom you associate, but I’m not remotely surprised by this revelation. It's more than a possibility. Members of Arbery's family are represented by two high-profile civil rights attorneys. That's kind of the whole point, he didn't deserve to die. No. I’ve only read the past few pages really. Was mostly referring to the national media.Have you actually read this thread? That's not the narrative of the majority of posters. I've seen the video and to me it is not very clear. Some social media sites are saying he was wearing Timberlands, but that was shown to be false. I'm just wondering what he had on. I'm not victim blaming, but if he is wearing regular street clothes, that would poke a hole in the story about him being out jogging.
That still doesn't mean you round up a posse and shoot him down in the street, either.
They were not police officers aloud to make that assumption. They called the police. It should have stopped there. At most, I'd have been okay with them just following him, as long as they were maintaining contact with 911, giving them details. They took it much, much farther, establishing their own roadblock while armed.I’m not defending them. I’m discussing the facts of the case. His intent is implied by law
You keep ignoring facts of the case that don't suit the outcome you seem to desire. You keep justifying the father/son's behavior while placing responsibility for Arbery's death squarely on the victim, despite the fact he didn't bring the gun to the party.I didn’t agree their behavior was ok. I’m 100% discussing the law and facts of the case
