What if the jogger had just stopped and talked to them? Not excusing the guy for his actions. Hard to really tell what happened in the video. I wouldn't chase them down myself and probably wasn't wise to do so but if you do you definitely should be armed. Would it have turned out differently if the guy stopped and had a discussion. No way to really know.
I've been a victim of several robberies so I empathize with folks that continually get their stuff taken. It's cost me thousands of dollars. And when you see them back on the streets within hours of being caught you think you'll never be at peace. There's one guy that has targeted me for over 10 years. He finally went to prison for a little over five years and I was able to sleep at night. Within 6 months of his release he was targeting me again. He's back in prison again.I hope it would have. Never had the need to arm up to go after someone so I cant really speak to what the mindset is.
I never said that the shooter didn't share some blame. But what if the guy went after the guy with the gun. We don't know that because the video pans away when the first physical interaction occurs. If the shooter didn't raise his gun until the jogger lunged at him then he's justified in the law of being in self defense. What if? Answering this hypothetical doesn't change what happened. We can assign partial blame to the deceased, but that doesn't mean these guys shouldn't pay for their sins.

But is wanting to have a conversation with someone being an aggressor? Are they the aggressor simply because they have firearms? In my opinion no. If the guys with the guns immediately pointed their firearms at the jogger without provocation from the jogger, they immediately become the aggressor. Unfortunately the video doesn't show what actually transpired.I don't know the first thing about self-defense laws in Georgia, but here's something I quickly found. Looks like the defense goes out the door if you're the initial aggressor.

So what? Just because they wanted to confront the dude doesn't mean they were at fault. Also, the truck was parked way out in front. He chose to jog past them. He could have turned and went the other way. Just because they had guns doesn't make them responsible. What if they didn't have guns but he died in a fight?Yeah, I got that. I didn't say or imply you said that.
We do know the shooter went after him. I proved it with stills like 10 posts ago.
If he felt that threatened why didn't he turn and run away? Why would anyone run toward guys with guns if they felt threatened? They exited the vehicle with shotguns in tow. They created the situation. If they wanted a simple conversation, at least one of them should have left his shotgun in the truck. I have zero doubt the jogger/felon/whatever people want to refer to him as felt threatened when confronted by two armed strangers in the middle of the road.

It seems as if the only time I can rest well is when he is behind bars. For months my morning ritual was to check the jail or prison population to see if he got out. The man will only stop if he's incarcerated or dead.
Going out in front of the guy. Stopping the truck. Two guys who aren't cops getting out with guns in hand. Blocking the road on both sides ... and they just wanna chat, in rural Georgia, with a young black guy they don't know.

Yea I'm sure their goal was to murder the guy. If that was the goal why didn't they just drive by him and shoot him? If this happened in Chicago to a white person you'd be all for the shooters. You're as transparent as glass.
It's a total mystery to me why people challenge others with weapons, vehicles, etc. Priority is get out of danger asap. However, these two yahoos had already cut him off once. Impossible to know if he went towards them to confront or because he had no other options (even though he did).If he felt that threatened why didn't he turn and run away? Why would anyone run toward guys with guns if they felt threatened?
