The murder of Ahmaud Arbery

Nope. Like I said, all parties deserve some blame. It took all of them to get the result. I do not think that they guy would have been shot if he hadn't gone all gangster on the shooter. I do not believe that he would have been shot if the shooter didn't go all Charles Bronson "Death Wish" on the victim.

Problem is one of the two idiots was within his rights.

Facts not emotions. He lays it out pretty straight but I'm sure there will be plenty of people who view this and vehemently disagree, and that is understandable.

The most important thing that he says is that nobody has all the facts yet and more will come out particularly as this case goes to trial.
Great layout of the case so far.

According to the video at #2242, everybody was.
There's going to be a lot of disagreement over whether or not Arbery was committing a felony by entering the dwelling, whether or not the McMichael's had the right to a citizen's arrest, whether or not Arbery and/or Travis McMichael were using self defense that resulted ultimately in Arbery's death.

Throw in the sideshow of race and of the local DA's Office handling of this and it's a perfect storm.

Lots of money to be made.

It's hard for me to believe that any sane person would run at a guy with a shotgun.

Well, it's not a choice I would have made but people do things that some think are brave and other's think of as crazy. We will never know what Mr. Arbery was thinking when he did what he did that day.

Sorry, he's wrong. The McMichaels did not have the immediate knowledge of a crime necessary to form the foundation of a citizen's arrest. At least, none that they have reported to law enforcement. Even if one stipulates that not only was Arbery in the house but that he was in there with the intent to steal, it doesn't matter UNLESS the McMichaels knew he was there. The guy in this video presents Greg McMichael as the one who made the first 911 call (the one that reports Arbery in the house). But McMichael did not make that call, so the rest of the video is built on a false premise.

I don't see where the victim shares in the blame. Have you ever stood alone and had someone holding a gun on you? I assure you that you will not know whether they are going to shoot you or not. Many things will go through your mind and one of them will be whether to take a chance and fight back. See post #1507. If I had fought back and got shot would you have blamed me?

What part of that video have we not heard? It sounded like Ricky Lol.

I'm not sure everything he said were facts. Did the McMichael guys say anything about citizens arrest to Arbery? He was giving all the "facts" up until Arbery was shot. Did he not have that information?

His version of events varies from known facts very early on. True, none of us has "all the facts." But if the narrative deviates from the facts that we do have, then we are going to have to dismiss the conclusion.

If I'm prosecuting this case, I make a big deal about the fact that McMichael didn't call 911 until he and his son were already in their truck chasing Arbery.

McMichael sees this dude running down the street, thinks he looks like the guy caught on his cameras who might have stolen stuff in the neighborhood, and rather than grabbing his cell and calling 911, his first instinct is to tell his son to arm up and jump in the truck to begin a vehicle-vs-pedestrian pursuit.
Not justifying this but my house was broken into.... you know what the cops did.... not a d&mn thing.

We shall see when all the information comes out. None of us know enough right now to draw positive conclusions.

I think it sounds like you are in disagreement. I understand.

I agree I don’t think what they did was justified..... I don’t think arberry was out jogging.... did they ever find out if something was broken into?

Arbery is on video entering an unfinished house in the neighborhood. The owner of that house has released a statement saying that he would not have pursued any action against Arbery, least of all armed pursuit.

yeah I saw video today where arberry had been inside that house several times at night.... I haven’t followed the story that closely.... I had heard about earlier break ins in that area..... is that true?

"Don't blame me. I didn't do it. I don't want to have anything to do with this."

After all that has happened, on that day and since, his statement is understandable but is immaterial to this case, just like Arbery's prior history.
