I doubt we ever take just 1 QB in a cycle with Butch here. The way the college game is play today you need all the great QBs you can get.

I agree. When you take multiples every year, you will have alot of transfers. Just stands to reason. Take 3 in 2015. They can tell AK he's it for 2016 to get his early commitment. As soon as one of the 3 taken in 2015 decides to bounce, Butch then ignores what was said to AK at the time and he will try and take 2. We've already seen it play out multiple times.

Agree about transfers. Probably tough for any class to support three quarterbacks for all four years, assuming all are healthy and none change positions.

Do you have some info about conversations between Butch and AK, or these other multiple times? Or are you speculating? Please share.

Happens a lot when flipping a roster. It's not an accident or an issue when players who get beat for playing time leave. Especially at very critical positions like QB. You take 3 very quality prospects and increase the odds that one or two are players that can effectively lead your team. It's not a problem if the loser in the competition dips. You harp on this (shocker) like it's a problem if a player leaves, but it's really not.

100% pure speculation, haha. If you haven't learned about Leb yet, you will soon.

Just going off quotes in recruiting articles.

Ferguson was told he was the only QB being taken. This is something Riley said on NSD.

2014 they couldn't buy a QB after taking 2 in 2013.

2015 BOTH Dormady and Jennings were quoted as saying they were the only QBs being taken. It was around the time TG was still being talked about on the board as an option as a #3.

Just speaking toward quotes the players themselves said.

If Dobbs blows up this year, and is a finalist for the Heisman, as many have mentioned he might be, he might very well be gone to the league. Probably depends if he finishes his degree early.

All I'm saying is don't tell a kid "he's it", if circumstances would have you not following through with it later. Jmo

It's more the "ignored" part that seems to imply wrong doing, by the coach, like he's not supposed to adjust numbers based on players leaning the program.

I'm sure the intent was to take two quarterbacks, but after Peterman transferred, things changed. It's fair to assume Butch kept the other two quaterbacks completely in the loop as things transpired, considering neither decided to look around or sign elsewhere.

I'm sure when Butch first told him that, he was "it." But a lot has changed since then, and is subject to change. If Dobbs leaves for the league and Jennings is moved to another position between now and the close of the season, next year, that wouldn't make Butch a liar, if he suddenly changed his mind and took 2 instead of 1

How do you know the kids weren't told "as of right now, you're the only qb we plan on taking" and they didn't simply repeat "coaches said I'm the only qb they're taking" to the media?

In the NSD presser, Butch said he and Peterman talked about his prospects toward the end of the season. So, it was at that point Butch realized he was going to have to deviate from his original plan to sign just 2 QB's.

Seems to line up with the timing of the renewed interest of Jones, after the season was over.

Just took the quote as it was written. Didn't see a need to capture the mood or any underlying possibilities that may be needed months down the road to explain why it didn't play out.

They didn't assume Butch would add another QB just before NSD as he was told he was it for 2013. Dooley told him he was it, Butch said he would keep that promise. Then, not so much. The Ferguson's were not pleased, but Riley said it was too late to do anything once they found out Butch had taken Dobbs.

So you would rather Dobbs not be here?
