The Nutjobs threatening to burn Qurans thread (merged)

your third thread about this preacher in as many days.

Other than your pathological hysteria is there any particular reason you're so fascinated by this story?

Are you kidding?

The state of relations between the West -- and the United States in particular -- with the Mid-East and other parts of the world will be shaped in large part by how we treat each other's major religions.

Many in this country view 9/11 as Islamic. Period. They either cannot or do not want to see that it was a radical element of that religion which had USED Islam to make a political/military move.

Now, these debates about a mosque and the Quran burning are giving such evil people more ammunition to paint us as anti-Islam because we are pro-Christian.

The two have and can co-exist. Just so many people taking advantage of this. It sucks.

You really haven't study their book much, have you?

So now this preacher is claiming he called off the Quran burning as part of a deal to move the NY mosque. Which is not true.

It is quite obvious this guy has done what so many religious leaders do, of all sorts of religions, which is to annoint himself some sort of religious or political leader, far above his actual station in life.

We've seen this movie so many times before.

Wouldn't it be easier to just to say he is white which equals bigot, racist, fear monger...etc....

I don't know. When you have a general, a president, and a secretary of defense weighing in on it I think dismissive comments like yours are particularly inappropriate.

The issue was blown way out of proportion. Obama, Petraeus, Clinton, Jolie, Tom, Dick, Harry chiming in only made things worse.

Terry Jones is an intolerant idiot, and he didn't deserve the attention he received.

I hate it when a religious leader tries to anoint himself as some sort of religious leader.

ok, but why three separate threads? Only OE is allowed to pad his post count with asinine and repetitive threads.

Are you drunk? Yeah, healthcare blows now... what on earth did that have to do with what I said earlier?

I don't drink, why?

My healthcare is just fine, I don't need obamacare.

Just wanted to get you to say something stupid....

I enjoy your nonsense.....

:eek:k:

So it's OK to burn the flag, but not the Quran...

Just curious... what do the liberals here think about the fact that the same people defending the building of a mosque at ground zero because it was their right to do it even if people were hurt or offended effectively shouted this church down until they changed a fairly insignificant and temporary demonstration?

Can you see now why MANY Christians see the left as anti-Christian?

You have posted some naive/ignorant/stupid stuff before, hard to imagine you topping this.

So the "peaceful" Muslims are now mad at us. And the murdering, evil terrorists dislike us more now?

Outstanding! We should pitch out that deal about freedom of religion and adopt Islam right away. Im not sure the country will survive unless.

Wow!

Did you pitch that in any particular direction.....:mf_surrender:

They aren't using Islam in any way you aren't "using" liberalism. The people performing the attacks are the Islamic literalists. They are the ones who read the Quran and associated holy writings as they are written and follow them.

9/11 WAS Islamic in the strict and literal sense. The problem and obstacle to peace with Muslims is not those who accept this truth... the obstacle is those of you who don't. You cannot have peace without respect and tolerance and you cannot have respect and tolerance based on a farce.

Now, these debates about a mosque and the Quran burning are giving such evil people more ammunition to paint us as anti-Islam because we are pro-Christian.

Hang on a minute... burning the Quran must be shouted down until stopped because Muslims might be offended but the building of this mosque must be defended in spite of the fact that it offends about 70% of Americans? Do you not see the inherent double standard you have here?\

The tolerance and respect required for real peace must be pervasive AND reciprocated.

Yeah, I really said something stupid.

I think you're too daft to understand that I just said Obamacare sucked.

I wish I could say I enjoyed your nonsense, but your posts are about as unenjoyable to read as your font.

Now two other churches -- the Westboro Baptist Church and some nutjob pastor in Tennesse -- are going to burn Qurans. Jones is claiming the Imam is a liar. A mosque in Arizona was attacked today with paint and rocks defacing it.

Ridiculous.

I actually agree with most of this. Though I believe strongly that in each case, they are acting well within their rights; I also believe that neither shows good judgement and would rather see both choose different paths to express those rights.

What I find interesting about the reactions to these situations is how many of those opposed to the building of the mosque have called on the government to ignore this right by prohibiting the building of it; whereas no one is saying that the burning of the Quran should be prohibited.

And to call the burning of the Quran "fairly insignificant" is ridiculous. Try selling that one to the soldiers on the front line.
Can you see now why MANY Christians see the left as anti-Christian?
What you fail to realize is that MANY Christians see the right as anti-Christians as well.

Just like many Americans consider other Americans with different view points anti-American.
