The Oakland A's- MLB's ACTUAL AAA team

the dodgers are interested in him and they sent a scout to go see him yesterday and the A's sent Street out to pitch yesterday with a 7 run lead, so i see a deal going through soon. Most likely Andy LaRoche will be the big player in this deal for the A's because the dodgers are showcasing him this series.

Brett Anderson arguablly the A's top pitching proxpect has been lights out since his call to AA.

25 IP, 18 H, 8 BB, 29 K, 1.80 ERA, 2.50 GO/AO, .202 AVG

there's so many good pitching prospects at just about every level of the A's organization right now, I'd be afraid to label anyone the best. Cahill is probably the most adaptable right now to the bigs, but Anderson is pretty filthy. Also, I'm a big fan of Italiano, even though he's struggling right now. Mazzaro is also looking very impressive in Midland right now.

what do you see them doing with all their young pitchers now when Anderson and Cahill are ready?

why do you think Beane is trading starters away left and right?

even if he is, you guys still have Gallagher, Smith, Duke, and Eveland. Now Duke will be moved no doubt before they're up, so that could leave Anderson and Cahill for the backend of the rotation.

with a couple bound to fail and make lifetime roles as long relief pitchers, or possibly even get mixed into setup/closer roles.

and just for the record, the A's are officially tanking. 1 guy in double digits in home runs and no one with over 50 ribbies. Pathetic. Pitching can only go so far. Beane keeps acquiring great prospect pitchers, but he better find some regulars than can hit the freaking ball.

At the least.

we suck. absolutely suck.

Beane's deals may payoff big dividends in the future (which is what the A's should have really been worrying about), but they have devastated this team. This team is now the team we all expected in April. 90 losses is still a good possibility.

Ill take credit for the recent victory over the Tigers, The quickest way for a team to get out of a slump is my horrible gambling skills

right now I'll take a win however we can get it. With last night's win over the Tigers, the A's are now 3-17 since the All Star Break. It's pitiful.

ladies and gentlemen your newest Oakland A, Matt Holliday. I should be excited, but something tells me Holliday never plays a game as an A. My question is what type of trade is Beane building up?

Holliday in that ballpark doesn't sound to good. His home and road splits are terrifying.

if he can get adjust to McAfee he can hit .300. That puts him light years above everyone else in the lineup. Will he hit .330? of course not.

And all that said, I really don't think he's wearing the green and gold in March.

I'd love to see the Braves pick him up, but we know that will never happen.

Who do you think that potential bidders will be? Will Beane be pushing for a surplus of prospects?

Beane needs an offense. I know this sounds like the same stuff repeated, but the A's minor league pitchers that are either ready or dangerously close to being ready for big play is at it's highest level in years. Scratch the current pitching rotation and now probably Matt Holiday for a complete overhaul at just about any position offensively he wants. Except maybe Marky Ellis.

Ziegler will be the new closer and after last year, I'm not too worried about him.

However, there are rumors that this trade came through Lew Wolff not wanting to lose anymore, so who knows, maybe Holliday is here to stay and the young guns can become more consistent at the plate. Maybe we'll even throw more of the pitchers out for more hitters?

I don't like this idea at all:

Furcal makes visit to Oakland | oaklandathletics.com: News

For one, I'm not ready to give up on Cliff Pennington. Secondly, this would give the A's two oft-injured shortstops (Crosby). I mean it's not like is the most important defensive position or anything. Call me crazy, but I don't know that I would ever trade for someone with pre-existing back problems.

Obviously, I think Beane would trade Crosby if we picked up Furcal, but who would be crazy enough to give us more than a new box of Rawlings baseballs and a Wilson A2000 glove for him?

another great piece of excitement. The A's are looking at either re-signing Jason Giambi or picking up Nick Johnson to play 1B. It's like they want to see how many players can be on the DL at the same time.

FWIW, according to a SF Giants message board, the A's contingent was even showing Furcal around a physical therapy center in the Bay Area that most A's use when rehabbing.

and I don't believe this quote for 1 second.
Furcal, 31, appeared in only 36 regular-season games last season due to a lower back injury. But that indirectly increased his free-agency value, since he didn't play enough to qualify for the Elias Sports Bureau rankings and thus won't cost the team that signs him a selection in next June's First-Year Player Draft.
I get what he is trying to say but there is no way an injury increased a players value.
