I guess you wanted to get rid of Pearl when we lost to a DII team last year too....[/QUOT
What DII team did we lose to this year? AP is OVC, which my school, Univ. of Tenn at Martin is in. We are a Division I school. Whats bad is our team beat the brakes of AP in a summer exhibition and our team is horrible. O well.
Yeah, but Austin Peay is a much better team now :banghead2: that's why the beat such a well coached UT.
Bruce Pearl would not have been doing any better with the current squad.
I don't believe that anyone has forgotten how Pearl was crucified by the NCAA. While other coaches buy, players sexually molest children the NCAA will turns a blind eye.
I would love to see Pearl back at the end of 3 years. However UT would never admit that they made a mistake so I don't believe it will happen. But if Pearl choses to return to coaching at another school that school will get a fantastic coach. I see him coaching at South Carolina.
You have to give him time to win. 8 games =/= time.
He doesn't have a talented team. This was a bad loss. You know what were not bad losses? The other 4.
You just took it to another level of pathetic. You should paint yourself any color other than orange and hang out on the loading docks at H.T. Hackney and cheer the pallets of oatmeal and shipments of lettuce Bruce is coaching up right now!

This goes back to my comment in the "Why is TBA so quiet." The argument I made about Bruce's first year or two vs Martin's first. I'll put it like this, Coach A gets a new job and has to integrate some recruits that he wanted with players he already had. Players he had no previous relationship, no previous recruitment, and no association with these kids. My point is that Bruce was a great coach because he integrated 2 recruits of his with players he was forced to coach. Martin has had the same window. He got to bring in some guys he wanted and like Bruce, is coaching players he has to coach. Martin is not the good of coach. I agree he has somewhat of a handicapped situation but quit comparing it to Dooley walking in a few weeks before NSD. All martin has done was go to the NIT, post a 20-28 MVC conference record, I believe, and is from the Gene Keady tree which don't mean jack. I just think and will always think we pulled a Kiffin and wanted to get away from the previous staff, that we hired the first interested person as soon as possible.
My problem is I wrote like I spoke, which apparently is a no-no.
Like they say I have no problem speaking. Like for instance in a project proposal, I got an A in the verbal and oral presentation cause I say what were wanted to do. ON paper, I apparently add a billion words to a sentence instead of writing the exact thing I said.
Agree, it is not enough time, but there are some bad coaching on the floor right now. Our coach is a defense specialist supposedly and our team still can't handle a simple pic and roll leaving open shots all game long. If you are man on man these are basic techniques that should have been covered in practice a month ago. With the amount of offense we have put up, any defense at all would have beat Memphis, giving our boys some confidence going away from Hawaii.
funny, but I will take the salary he took for coaching lettuce.
Pooch I will agree with you that the NCAA turning a blind eye to the Abuse stuff and lying being a pathetic thing to say, but I do think that Bruce was dealt a harsh hand.
I believe Coach K or Bob Knight said it best when asked about comparing the Pearl saga vs Tressel. They said its a shame that a coach can lie about something, then come clean the next day or so, but a coach can lie multiple times to the NCAA and when caught, the coach resigns and is dealt with less.
I loved Bruce Pearl, but I agree that he should be punished for his crime. He did, so he should suffer it.
Amazing the amount of "love" on this board....
Can't we just hold hands and sing Kum-ba-yalol:
Correct. This is a big item.
The difference is scheme. Pearl had two ways to attacks picks: you switched, or the defender took away the pick and made the opponent go the other direction.
Absolutely. Bruce is a very talented guy and I was a huge fan for a while. Unfortunately, he's made the same mistakes multiple times and I have a feeling we may be hearing more from him in the future, in a not so positive way.
I'm not really big on comparing one coach's mistakes to another. The mistakes that mean the most to me involve those happening at UT. Remember. There were more well after the LOI, and if he would have stayed, we would have been hammered even worse.
I agree Pooch, but I only compare coaching infractions when they are pretty much the same. The only difference was that one coach kept lying and the other came clean. I mean what are the big similarities? Urban got hired and will be able to recruit 100 percent like Cuonzo did. Previous coaches are gone so both programs didn't get hammered. I just think that the NCAA wanted to make an example of Bruce. Is it me or does it seem like when Tressel finally admitted to lying, it was still about the players and never him? He just went amongst his business and took another job.
