True but it takes time to learn the system and then have the trust in your teammates to perform it. Half of the team is underclassmen so they are still adjusting.

All I heard about was the bump, which I didn't think that was a big deal but apparently UT did. And there has been many worse things happen at NC, FSU, OSU, and the U in recent years. I thought the 3 year show-cause was a little much, but I can't figure out the NCAA and their confusing ways.

I've heard this as well, but who knows, many people around here are convinced Peyton Manning is going to retire and coach at UT. The level of absurdity is overwhelming.

After holding a tear-filled press conference where he promised to never do it again, he committed the bump violation less than a week later (I believe).

Call me ignorant, but with the whole "Bump" item under so much debate and still has questions coming up about what EXACTLY happened, I can't really believe what anyone says. I love Bruce but on that particular situation I don't believe his story and I sure as hell don't believe the recruits either.

Perhaps, but the UT administration had heard enough. They felt as if Pearl lied to their faces. That bump was the final straw.

In this thread, the same people that were using the true fan argument last year are actively rooting for the current coach to fail.

Good point and well noted, but this isn't necessarily a Top flight department possibly making a mistake and firing him. I mean clearly our department wasn't what the ideal, perfect Athletic Department that other schools strive for. I mean, hell, our department was so dam hypocritical to Bruce. I was at KNOX that weekend of the Oregon football game and watched the conference when Bruce told all. Mike Hamilton and others publicly said for 9 months that we will go into July with Bruce as our Head Basketball coach regardless. I mean dang. I understand that if something or news kept popping up such as the bump, you give the coach that shorter of a leash.

Sorry, another sad attempt at sarcasm by me.

The subsequent violations had to have something to do with it because they stuck behind him after the lying. I still think there was something else that didn't make the light of day that UT saw coming ahead. Personally, after you kept him after lying I think they should kept him unless a major violation occurred.

Why? Our idiot AD should have fired him the second that **** came down, and then rightly fired him after the season

Completely agree, he probably should have been fired after lying, but after that you made your bed already - should have stuck with him after publicly stating you were behind him.

If he can't get the job done, he should be fired. 8 games is nowhere near enough to make that call.

But he didn't fire him swiftly. Do you not think of all the things that finally got Hamilton gone was the Bruce thing. He made a commitment to Bruce by giving him a second chance, which as a human being I admire and think is the right thing to do. I think everyone realized how bad of a judgement of character Hamilton is/was for UT. Why do you think he got Martin/Dooley as coaches. I seriously doubt it was because of money. I can buy the whole top coaches didnt wanna come here, but I truly believe Hamilton could live and work as an AD with two mid major coaches who do nothing but win in the ethical department and are sub par and might be a blessing in the win/loss department.
