Maybe not a good thing..IMHO but is certainly the truth.... It's over and time to look forward and not backward

As I have said it took TN 40 years to hire an excellent basketball coach. I expect it will be 40 more years before it happens again.

I never wanted Bruce fired. He made a stupid mistake in lying about a stupid minor violation, and I could care less about it. Considering he gave us the best success in our pitiful history, I would have taken 2 years of him away from basketball and back with our program again.

Well I'm out guys. Didn't mean to anger people, just have conversation. Go Vols...no matter who's coaching

It's one game bro. Chill.

I was at the game and what I saw makes me think more than "just 1 game". I saw a team that was totally unispired (ala football vs. KY), a coach that did not make any adjustments (ala Dooley), a crowd that was very apathetic and uninterested (just like football).

IMO, Dave Hart has his work cut out for him.

Yeah, it would be real awesome to bring him back and let the NCAA hammer us a couple years later. You guys are ridiculous with this blind coach love.

You can say "No" and "Make it stop" but based on what I witnessed today, unless Cuonzo signs Jarnell Stokes, this program is going back to the 1990's.....

It's too early for that.

Lots of posters here are far too reactionary. A couple moral victories in Hawaii and folks are singing Martin's praises. Now it's doom and gloom.

Seems to me this team is shaping up to be about what many pundits expected--a borderline NIT team.

Losing to Oakland and Austin Peay is not boarderline NIT material.

By the way - if we had stuck it to the NCAA and kept Pearl - it would have been a lot LOT LOT worse than anyone could probably guess. It's not something you can do.. they probably would have just hit Bruce with a 5 year show clause and stuck it right back to us along with plenty of scholarship and recruiting penalties.

If we bring him back even one simple, secondary violation would be a huge deal. The competitive disadvantage of having Slive and The NCAA constantly on his ass would have made every year look like last year. Bruce was a freewheeling, motivating machine but his transgressions at UT were some of the same infractions he had at UM-W. I was fooled by him, as much, if not more, than the rest of you. The fact that some of y'all can't see how awful he left this program, and how much worse it would be if he were still here, makes we worry for your mental health...

Absolutely YES. UT has had 2 good coaches in their awful basketball history, even after a short layoff I like our odds with a coach that has learned some humility in Pearl. It looks like now we are going to go through years again of losing to the likes of Austin Peay. I'll take Pearl anyday!
