Looking at SEC standings is wild, 10-8 probably gets you 4th place...upcoming games against South Carolina and 2 against Florida are huge.
Yep which 4th place is obviously key in the SECT. That would be a great place for us to shoot for. And since it looks like there may be a big log jam vying for that spot, for tie break scenarios important for us to beat those teams. Arkansas, USC, Florida. Since we also play Arkansas at their place makes this game huge for us

last time I looked Joe had 6 going. i don't see it but 'when Joe speaks.......'

As a point of reference TeamRankings gives us a 32% chance of making the tournament. All things considered that’s not terrible. Have a lot of upcoming opportunities to improve that

The SEC is bad this year I don’t see us getting many bids

3 locks (Aub, KY, LSU), 3 on the bubble (Miss State, USC, Florida), 2 long shots (TN, Bama).

Georgia is a huge disappointment. There's no excuse to be 2-8, 12-11 with a beast like Edwards on the roster. 1st or 2nd pick in the NBA draft.

I think 5 go or 6 if there's an unexpected SECT champion.

If Florida is legit on the bubble then White should have a seat that’s on fire

This next one against Ark is vital if we want to even continue to talk about NCAA. If we win 3 in a row, we’re back in the conversation, at least.

A probable 3-5 finish in league play. Best case 4-4.

Don't waste your breath, I know anything is possible. So is winning the powerball, but it ain't gonna happen.

4 at home could be wins (Ark, Candy, Florida, Auburn), and possible wins at USC and Ark. At KY and at Auburn would be huge upsets.

We win these next 3 (2 at home) and then beat Florida and manage an upset somewhere (@ Auburn, Kentucky, Arkansas or home against Auburn) who knows.

We're in a similar situation to where the football team was, where we need to have nearly perfect games to win because we don't have enough depth or top level talent to win ugly. But I'll be pretty happy to win 3 or 4 more honestly and just finish above 500 going into the SEC tournament.

I’ll be happy to see the continued effort and improvements in individual players. Too many variables that go into determining the winner of bball these days, especially the officiating. Can’t work harder to make the refs not call you for a foul when a guy trips over his own teammates foot. The skill levels are so close that a few unlucky bounces, missed shots that were halfway down, and bad calls will sway the final outcome

The next 3 likely decide the outcome of this season...they find a way to win all 3 and all of a sudden you are 16-10(8-5) with 5 games remaining, the NCAAT would seem very likely at that point. Drop a game or 2 out of these 3 and we likely won’t be in any sort of postseason play.

no doubt
2/3 keeps us in the discussion but really need 3/3

Have to disagree with u about UT not being able to win ugly, almost every game the Vols have won this year has been ugly. I smell what u are cooking about depth and talent, tho. I still won't give up on this team making the "Big Dance" until we lose in the SEC Tourney. I still think UT wins the next 3 games if they pull off the win at Arkansas, but I am an eternal optimist when it comes to my Vols in almost every sport

I think we just have different definition of "win ugly" I don't consider a defensive game and low scoring as ugly. What I consider ugly is when we have a lot of turnovers, shoot poorly, and don't rebound. All things that we have to do fairly well to win games this season.

Last year we had enough talent to pull out wins where we had poor nights shooting, rebounding, or turning it over a lot (@ Vanderbilt comes to mind), but right now we just don't seem to have someone like Grant or Admiral who can put the team on their back and will us to pull out what I consider ugly games.

Only games we've won this season that I felt were ugly wins was South Carolina & at Alabama. Both games came down to us getting to the line and taking advantage of the free throws.
