Lol....I just can't take the FF anymore.

Look I get upsets happen and all, but to watch people take the Vandy win and then argue that we definitely ARE going to beat TAMU.....I just can't. I know the people doing are just the typical "saying it in case it happens so I can say I called it", but a few are taking it way too far. Things like "Now that we have a QB"....I'm sorry, did I miss where Bailey has shown he's the next Peyton Manning and alone can overcome every bad area on this team? Bailey is better than JG.....a very low bar to clear.
Even Manning took about a half a season to ripen. The 94 Gator Bowl was his coming out as a star party.

They have already recruited over Bailey. That's why the have been so reluctant to use him.

I get blasted every time I criticize Pruitt.

Never understood what makes some fans think he’s the next great thing to happen to Tennessee.

I just don't get the thinking that because Bailey is playing and we beat a terrible Vandy team that suddnely we have some great shot at beating TAMU. Based on what? If you flipped the situations, we'd be laughing our heads off if someone suggested TAMU was going to beat us.

Also I don't understand the immediate need for coach worship around here. Why is every FB coach immediately crowned "the guy"? I get not criticizing too much too early but this is year freakin 3 and we're worse. And I'm so sick of the "cupboard was bare" crap. Pruitt had it no worse than Jones or Dooley had it, but now every coach that is hired apparently inherited the worst mess in organized sports history.

Everybody is the guy till they get exposed. Freeze is no doubt a great offensive mind but has never won an SEC game without illegal recruiting.

And Saban, Mullen, Kirby, Orgeron, and Jimbo has? They just haven't got caught...

Maybe I should have said wins without getting caught. I agree, every one is cheating at some level. My point is he's the flavor of the month just like Scott Frost three years ago. Teams are not exactly shaking in their cleats when they face Nebraska.

Gym coach Jones had as many as 15-17 future NFL players on his 1st roster, Dooley had NFL players on his roster. Pruitt had about 10-15 SEC type players and only about 45 total scholarship players when he was hired. They were all hired under tough circumstances but I think Pruitt's was much worse. Pruitt is also the only one of the 3 to improve the roster to SEC levels with depth in 3 years, 1 year of which he's probably been able to develop at about a 25% normal rate because of '20.

Bless you @zjcvols for trying to reveal some posters hypocrisy in that football forum thread lol.

It never ceases to amaze me how many self described “right wing, conservative capitalists” are absolutely appalled at the idea of injecting a little capitalism into college athletics.

Biggest hypocrisy in sports today.

If you claim to be a supporter of capitalism, yet believe players shouldn’t profit off their name and likeness because an organization has made arbitrary rules and is a monopoly says so...you are not a capitalist.

I’d just as well have those that aren’t student athletes skip college athletics altogether. If the NCAA wasn’t the minor league for the NFL then perhaps Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State wouldn’t be taking 3 of the 4 playoff spots every year.

I’m on the fence about getting compensated for their likeness. It enables abuse for donors to buy players. Instead of hundred dollar handshakes there will be $5,000 purchases of autographs. For me it’s about having rules for players that want to participate, not capitalism. When college sports become nothing else but the NBA’s and NFL’s official minor leagues I have very little interest. It’s already getting uninteresting with so many potential “future” professionals opting out of bowl games.

The greed is already messing it all up anyway. The NCAA was established to protect football players that were dying from injuries They’ve become a joke. Coaches and administrators are the greedy fks that have probably already ruined things beyond repair. Fulmer hides his raise from the public, throws an unnecessary extension at Pruitt as he incompetently runs UT athletics, and gym teacher-like coaches are given insane compensation even when they fail at their jobs.

While all of those clowns steal money, players that experience debilitating, life changing injuries are tossed aside as expendable, damaged components in the system... many, if not most, leave with either useless degrees or without having actually learned much through a fake education system that’s designed just to keep them eligible.

And the next coach it will be said they had it the worst and the wheel keeps turning. Only at Tennessee apparently can a first year coach not take what he is given and improve it, no they have to have 5 years.

This times 1 million. I'm so sick of the hypocrisy and double standards. I

I've long been sick of them holding players to some weird high holy standard yet never said a word when a coach drops a team before a bowl game and signs a fat check to go coach somewhere else. And when players start taking THEIR futures into consideration then OMG HOW COULD THEY? Get over your romanticized nostalgia filled version of college sports, those days are dead. For a sport where you're lucky if you last 5 years playing, I'm 100% for them doing what is best for them. I'm sure these guys stick with a worse job situation because of "loyalty".

I've never understood the weird nostaligic "puritan" view of major college sports like football and basketball. It's not the 50s anymore.
