The Official “Regular Posters of the Basketball Forum” Thread

Probably the luckiest team in the Tournament right now.

No way will they shoot like that during the whole Tournament.
They aren't even shooting that well.

Their opponents are missing point blank lay ups and wide open shots.

Tennessee
Okie State
Loyola

All shooting in the 20 to early 30% range and worse for three.

Oregon State only held 2 other teams all year to 32% or lower.

So either they made some unprecedented strides defensively or they're just getting lucky that the three teams they've played in this tournament were ice cold.

It shouldnt, theyre not good. A hodge podge of shooters who are hot.
Yeah, there’s luck involved in nearly every successful tourney run. Regardless, the perception of that loss is better if Oregon state makes the F4 then if they get blown out in the round of 32. Dont think anyone would dispute that

I know i'll get hate for this. But I dont care about that. It makes me hate Barnes and his style of play even more. Theres a reason these teams get hot and his dont.

Why does that matter ? Like u like to say basketball is a tournament sport. Now the Beavers are in the Elite 8, they are peaking at the right time and surviving and advancing.
Calling a spade a spade and still being impressed isnt a bad thing. Theyve done well.

Just like VCU under Shaka. Shot above their 3 point season average in basically every game.
Now, lets look at why that happens. Maybe because those coaches recruit shooters and run a shooter friendly offensive system with good spacing that allows his shooters good shots.
Or I present you a HC who runs an offense with crap spacing, thinks mid range shots are a good thing, and still thinks games are won in the 60's.
Hmmmm maybe its not LUCK as most say but its philosophical differences, planning and potential.

I know how to click IGNORE. I’d rather tell the idiots with their chronic whines to STFU.
Truths, but to each their own. Dont complain though if you dont like what I have to say. You have a way to make it gone and choose not to. Thats on you. So how about you quit whining about what I have to say.

How do you figure that when a team shoots well above their regular season average? So the system is good in the tournament but not in the regular season? Not really sensible. That VCU team was like 4th in their conference.

Also, Musselnan gets thrown around as a great coach (which I think he’s good), but Arkansas is not good at shooting three’s and shoot a lot of midrange shots.

Why don’t you bring your Barnes whine to the thread that specifically exists for that discussion instead of bringing it into this one?

Because, what puts them in place to shoot that well? Who recruits shooters? Who gives them the chance to go on the run? Shooters are shooters and there always going to be streaky, but a team of streaky shooters has 10x more potential to get hot and make a run because the 3 ball can carry you with how the game is played.
As far as EM, sure what hes done in 2 years is impressive, but its early to tell if hes good or will be good long term.

Well, lets see if you scroll up there was a discussion on a completely different team. Then a comment was made that made the conversation circle back to Barnes. I just go wherever the conversation is.

As long as you can get in your Barnes Bashing comments.

I did scroll up. Wasn’t surprised to see who began whining about TN’s basketball coach and who brought the bashing again.

Hmmmm. But you seem to ignore the poster whom brought up Shaka, only because I mentioned something about him in the past.

Im going to go ahead and call a spade a spade you only have a problem with it because im not a fan of Barnes, if I was sitting here singing his praises you wouldnt have a problem with it. How about instead of criticizing me and my thoughts on the program understand that just because you are proud of and happy with the program, that doesnt mean everyone else is or needs to be. I have the right to my opinion and you have the right to yours.

My opinion is that you chronically whine about Barnes. I reply to a FRACTION of the Barnes Bashing comments. Your shtick is bad enough when it’s in the places set up just for your whine. You really don’t have to pollute the entire forum with it.

Again, I go where the conversation is. If it bothers you that bad, then ask the poster who posted about Shaka, to post in that thread. Ask the poster who posted about the tournament game to post in the around the AA thread. Same for those who are off topic in the transfer portal thread. Again you dont have the right to whine about me and what I post when theres a feature on this site for you to use to not see any of it, but you CHOOSE not to use it of your own free will.

This isn’t the correct thread for your chronic Barnes garbage. YOU brought him up in here. TWICE. You can’t seem to have a discussion of any length without interjecting your Barnes Bashing agenda.

Those shooters were worse during the regular season? VCU shot almost 50% from three in two of their games. Kind of a strange argument.

You are just kind of ridiculous with this stuff.

Shooters getting hot is a strange argument? They dont shot whatever their average is, some games theyre under some games theyre over. Recruit a few and hope to ride them on a streak in the tournament.

1. Did I bring up coaching in this recent argument or did the coach who brought up Shaka?
2. Because coaches have pretty much everything to do with the team, so in the end everything circles back to him.
