Going to the media with portal threats to increase NIL now

Rep for Miami star Wong: Better NIL deal or exit
Yep. Surprised there hasn’t been more discussion about this. And we thought it was crazy already. Now you have agents holding other kids’ deals over a school’s head on current players. “If you don’t give the guy the same deal that someone else got, he gone.” Pack got 2yrs, $800,000 and a car. Match it or else.

The NCAA ending the one free transfer rule would help. But I think that it goes in the other direction. Unlimited transfers. Free agency. NIL deals are going to have to incorporate the restrictions on freedom of movement.

Figured I would put this here for those who continue to question if we are committed to NIL or not.

At least to me, I don’t know if the question is really if we are committed to NIL or not. I think the question is more how committed are we in it for basketball? Because NIL is producing obvious results already on the football side of things

I don't think it's even debatable as to whether we are serious about NIL. I think it was fair to say we were late to the game in terms of getting organized at a high level, but now that we are there, we mean business.

With Pauga's help, the pitch has been sent to the 26 leagues outside of the six biggest conferences (ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12, SEC). The six biggest leagues are not involved for practical reasons: 20-game leagues schedules, rigid TV contracts, and a sense that they wouldn't embrace this outside-the-box concept, as it wouldn't stand to benefit many teams in those leagues the way that it would for all others.

Okay, now I'm on board. I've always thought (and it came to fruition, to a limited extent, in 2021) that bubble teams should scramble to play one another once knocked out of their conference tournaments in an attempt to boost their RPI and solidify a bid, provided they somehow remain under the maximum playable games cap. This takes away a little of the do-or-die element, but does allow for more intriguing matchups.
