SD is only here if he has a new user name or lurks without logging in. No posts from the SeniorDrill account in 5 years. Hard to believe, but he got pretty quiet after Donnie’s story wasn’t on 60 Minutes.

IndyVol is who I miss the most that was a regular here. We all had some good times in this forum over the years.

I've been a lurker here since the Pearl years and I miss the OG Hatvol (RIP)... he was super knowledgeable and had some great post game reports. Glad to have BTO do them now in his absence though.

Gahhh, really? He was the most arrogant, pompous, unlikable poster I've ever encountered on VN in my 14 years here. He was super-knowledgeable though. Just ask him.

Heck, I like to argue (read as debate), but he was pistol quick to jump directly to insults and attacks when anyone dared to challenge his opinion which he viewed as a threat to his forum superiority. I hate to speak ill of the dead, but it is what it is.

@Freak can debunk this conspiracy if he’d like

But you used to not even be able to post about the guy for years without all posts mentioning him getting deleted.

I think mods said it was cause he was a controversial figure.

But knowing he was an attorney, my guess is he threatened legal action against Freak or something (cause hat was that kind of a-hole) so all posts relating to him got deleted.

And now that he is dead. No longer a threat.

You're right about them being immediately deleted. I think he may have actually been eventually banned from VN which is why he stopped posting. He may have very well threatened something citing his civil rights being trampled.

Keith Hatfield was his real name. From LaFollette and a lawyer by trade. Was on the radio with Basilio for a bit back in the day, after UT basketball games, I think. There is a thread on here in his memory after he passed a couple years ago. People swore he was a totally different person away from the message board, and that he was extremely likable. He definitely had connections and was very knowledgeable. Just had zero bedside manner and was a real jerk to anyone who dared disagree or question him on this board. VolNation was my only interaction with him, so I found him to be very spiteful and rude. Perhaps if I had known him away from here, I'd have felt differently.

Gotcha. That name does sound familiar. I think I remember seeing him on Twitter back in the day, but I never knew much about him.

I remember this. There was, maybe still is a thread in one of the general forums where people talked about people who no longer posted. I asked about HatVol and it was gone like a minute later. I thought maybe I just messed up posting and a few hours later I went back in and posted the same thing.....and gone in minutes. I stopped trying after that figuring, yeah something is up with even bringing him up.

I like them enough. I just wanted them to update the template to match the current one. Last year they looked off to me becaues they still had the Butch era pants checkerboarding and I never liked the two toned gray in the jersey. Just make a gray one that is like the black uniforms but SG.

To really honest though, I kind of hope we get through this alt fad that we were late to the party on and move on. I don't mind them but I always fear that it will backfire and they'll start wanting to wear the alts more than the classic look, aka Oregon and Oklahoma St.

They need to start wearing alts more. Classic look is beautiful, but it’s not 1990 anymore.

Keep the classics for the old heads.
Get 1-2 new looks every year for the recruits/younger crowd. There’s a reason the recruits wear the alts during their visits lol

Let the players decide what to wear.

Seems like this is what their doing, pretty fair to me.

I didn’t realize this, but the postgame radio show last night said that the agreement with Nike states that we bring out a new alternate uniform every year.

Disagree,. there is a reason the best programs keep a consistent look. I don't care if they do it 1-2 games but I don't agree to "let the players decide". Let them decide 1-2 games and none of the big matchups. Sorry not sorry.

Teams that go through a ton of alts look like they are trying too hard imo.

Gotta say I'm indifferent about unis. As long as they have orange and indicate Tennessee and/or Vols, I'm good. Though I REALLY like the alts we introduced last season in bball.

I liked his post game threads but hated his vendetta against Pearl and especially Forbes. I was in high school at the time and got in many arguments with him over Pearl because I was a huge Pearl stan then lol. I listened to him on Basilio and he was completely different on there. Seemed like a good guy irl but behind the keyboard he was arrogant. Seems like a lot of people are like that nowadays tbh. I had no clue he was HatVol when I listened and eventually put two and two together and my mind was blown. This was after he quit posting or got banned here... not sure.

There's some posters here now that are a tad on the argumentative and arrogant side that I still respect thier basketball knowledge. They may clog a few pages (or 10 haha) with arguing but they still bring value to the board.

Considering how poorly we’ve played in just about all alternate uniforms outside of the black uniforms, I’m all for keeping it to just black uniforms moving forward when we do alternates and burning the rest lol.

Hey guys I would like to ask for a favor. My wife is a preschool teacher and they are having a contest for which room has the best decorated bulletin board for September. Their board is the "Mirror, mirror on the wall.." theme. If you guys could throw some votes her way.
