DJ Jefferson is giving off those Zach Kent vibes. He's played a total of 3 minutes. I don't get it... I know we're super deep but he's been with the team for almost two years now.

Barnes will play freshman. ZZ, Santi, and JJJ all got major mpg as freshman and played in nearly every game.

Aidoo, Tobe, and Mashack all got 5-10 mpg as well.

It's looking more and more likely that he's just not going to work here and will transfer out unfortunately.

Got to give the guy credit though.

Figured he would be gone but he seems to love Tennessee and coaching staff.

Hopefully we can witness his talent on court next season.

If anyone wants to hear some rare national media drooling over the Vols, check out The Mark Titus show from Monday (episode 95). Titus oddly talks a lot about Tennessee teams most years, but he’s been touting Tennessee as his national title favorite since November. Lots of talk about Tennessee and Ziegler throughout the episode.

"I’m addicted to smelling good,” Aidoo said of his affinity for cologne. Coach Rick Barnes was happy to hear it.

Jonas Aidoo knows what divulging this information is going to mean for him, but here he is anyway, telling me all about his obsession with cologne. Cologne that costs much more than “Obsession” by Calvin Klein.

Brands such as Bulgari and Creed and Tom Ford and Filthy Rich, some of it going for hundreds a bottle. With notes such as vanilla, cashew, almond and lemon. From stores such as Neiman Marcus and Dillard’s and Macy’s, and some shops in Italy that the Tennessee Volunteers 6-11 junior center found when the Vols made a trip there last summer. That helped his collection swell to more than 60 bottles.
“I think I’ve got a problem,” he says with a laugh.

“(We’re) in Italy and he’s looking for cologne spots and I’m like, ‘Bro, you have an addiction,’” says UT junior guard Jahmai Mashack, Aidoo’s best friend on the team. “‘This has got to stop.’”

“You shouldn’t have told Barnes,” Mashack tells me, laughing. “Now he’s gonna use it as ammo.”

Barnes’ deepest dive into olfactory enhancement, for the record, was a brief affinity for Skin Bracer After Shave. And he says upon learning of Aidoo’s hobby, in gleeful confirmation of Mashack’s prediction: “I can’t wait to use that.”

That's hilarious, especially Barnes using it as ammunition on the 🦒. I was strictly a Polo guy thru high school and my mid-20's ('85-'95ish), then I wore what ever my girlfriend/wife liked. Never anything special like Aidoo, but I do always wear something. Ladies appreciate it. Never Axe body spray, tho.

DJ is definitely Drew Pember vibes, I however think DJ could stay at a higher level though if he transfers.

I have a bit more hope though, unlike Drew we haven’t really seen DJ in action yet because of how deep the roster is. If he returns next year I would have to assume he’ll be playing 10+ mpg. Barnes & staff are pretty straight forward with players about opportunity for playing time. If they don’t think he can see the court he’ll be told & likely transfer.

I’d guess that he’s keeping a good attitude because Barnes has an opportunity in mind for DJ on one of his former assistant’s rosters. The way roster management is these days he could even get “sent down” to one of those programs for development and then transfer back to UT for a final year or two.

Tough place to play, but if I bet it, I'm taking the Vols at -4. Staying away from the O/U. Usually, when I like this Vols team to cover, I like the Over, so 75-70. Now, that I right it down, I like it more, parlay 'em together, imo. But, I doubt I bet it, I don't think rationally when it comes to my favorite teams. So, take it fwiw, absolutely nothing

I know the likelihood of DJ being here next season is low, but I’ve not given up on him yet. I think most of us expect Dillione to be a core part of our team next year, and his minutes haven’t exactly been huge either.

We are a very experienced team with limited minutes available for anyone that isn’t an upperclassmen. There won’t be a high-major program as good as Tennessee with as many minutes available next year as we will have to offer.

Unless Barnes just really doesn’t think he can cut it here, I bet he has a chance. Continuity has been a huge part of why this program has been so successful, so I bet if Barnes can avoid losing any of his players except the 3 seniors next year he’ll try to make that happen.

Most folks I know refer to that scent as “boiled cabbage”? Probably not a musk fancied by ladies in my demographic but I’m a bit older than you.

That was the '80's man, if you are talking about Polo, the girls loved it at Fulton, Powell and Central, unless they lied. I didn't care, because I lied about, "just let me put the t!p in"

Could be, but because of the oddities in this unusual situation it seems a risky move for DJ to come back. Without knowing situations across the country, I’m not sure I can necessarily agree, or disagree with your comments. He’s an intriguing guy, though.

It's not any kind of "move" if he stays. He would be staying the course he set for himself. My Goodness. It's certainly a "risk" making an actual move to another team, UNLESS he wants to be THE guy at a lower level
