The Official “Regular Posters of the Basketball Forum” Thread

I'll tell you this. Some of the posts in the other threads tonight are downright disgusting and disgraceful.

We have some people that post on this forum that I think literally get off on crapping on the team. I think they are gleeful that we lost so they can come in and tell us how terrible Barnes is and God help us if Auburn wins tomorrow because they won't STFU about that.

I realize there is contact on that play. I just don't like it because the ball was already out of Edwards' hand when whatever minimal contact there was happened. It had no affect on the shot, and I just don't know that it is prudent to decide that game on such a call.

And Candace Parker made a good point. When a shooter kicks his leg out like that, who is really initiating the contact? I know that the rule isn't currently written to account for that, but I feel like that would be a good rule to implement.

I won't blame the loss on that one play alone. We lost because we didn't hit our FTs. We were #16 nationally in team FT%, and shot 14-28 tonight. Just at a loss on this one.

Very good season for Vols. Tough to lose and close out season the way we did, but this is a special team who gave us many thrills.
Our lack of depth was our undoing. Turner, Bone, and Bowden were solid, but we really needed a 4th guard all season long. Pons and Johnson gave us very little all season long. Fulk was serviceable, but Walker was a big disappointment we really needed him this year and his lack of production caused Grant, Kyle and Admiral to play way too many minutes as the season wore on.
Still a very good team. IMO, this year was a year of great parity in NCAA basketball. The final 16 teams are all capable of beating each other on any given night. We would have beat many of these teams in a best of 3 or 5 series, but NCAA is a one and done.
Future looks bright for the Big Orange, this is a special TEAM of good players with high character.

4 of our last 5 exits out of the tournament were all absolutely devastating.

Scotty missing the free throw

Offensive Foul on Jarnell

Loyola buzzer beater

And now this amazing, historic comeback that’s ruined by a bizzare sequence of calls and non-calls

Purdue was on the lucky end of 4 close calls at the end of regulation.

1) The ball was not called off of Edwards foot with 2.5 seconds. But Purdue benefits from the review to set up a play when they were out of time outs.

2) There was almost a 5 second violation on the inbounds pass.

3) Edwards' heel was on the sideline just before he caught the inbounds pass. Only replay that I saw, he was probably on the ball of his foot just before he catches the inbounds pass.

4) Lemonte barely touches Edwards and Edwards kind of jumped into Lemonte... but instead of a no call, we get LSEed yet again.

Out for awhile until this nuthouse calms down, maybe I’ll visit this thread but the rest of the forum I’m staying away from. Was glad the boys made a game of it, actually rather see that then get embarrassed like they were for much of the game, just wish they’d have come to play that way. Turner was absolutely awesome on both ends of the court I thought, he really made Edwards work and still enough his offensive game, think he could be primed for a big year next season.

Purdue is my #2 team. It's hard right now, but I'll have to pull for them the rest of the way. I was born in Lafayette and lived across the street from the basketball arena the first 6 weeks of my life.

Honestly I don’t even care about the tournament anymore. I just want Auburn and UK to get the hell out of them.
UK and Auburn losing would really make the loss last night hurt a lot less. I can't handle UK making a run and hearing from their fans.

Agreed. I tried to cancel my SlingTV subscription last night, but it renewed March 25. I just get SlingTV to watch Vols football and basketball (Late August -April).
I usually do not watch college basketball other than Vols because of the terrible officiating. College basketball has a real officiating problem and the media is unwilling to address it. Even when refs like Anthony Jordan get called out by fans, the SEC and NCAA go silent.

VN will be a circus, if Jeremy Pruitt can ever turn the football program around. This is just a taste of the idiocy we would see on here if football took off. I hope it happens

With “Voltwitter,” you have to take the good with bad, unfortunately.

Don't stay away long. Place isn't the same without you.

Buzz to A&M has been speculated (assumed) since the minute they fired Kennedy. It's why they have made no moves until now on the coaching search front.
