I didn’t feel like they were going to pull it out. It took a long time for the bats to wake up.
We’ve lost a lot of big games on ESPN. We need to avoid that curse tonight.
I’m wondering how tge pitching stakes up. I might go read through the UT Baseball Forum for the game preview. C Mo might be kind of banged up and not likely to be a factor.
It’s kind of surreal. Other than Pat Summitt’s brilliant runs it’s been over 25 years for a NC.
I’m just happy Cortez appears to be out size he pitch a season high number of pitches yesterday - that guy has some real talent if he ever gets better command.View attachment 652718
Supposedly CMO is fine. Tony said it's been a lingering issue since Evansville.
The downside to Cortez eating up some innings yesterday is that Aschenbeck is likely available tonight, and he was arguably more effective than Cortez was due to his command. Aschenbeck generated 7 Ks while recording 8 outs, walked 0, and we only managed 2 hits.I’m just happy Cortez appears to be out size he pitch a season high number of pitches yesterday - that guy has some real talent if he ever gets better command.

Yes, it would be great to jump out and put up 4, 5, 6 runs early and play from ahead rather than playing catch-up. Takes pressure of Zander and maybe allows him to settle in and eat 5 innings, himself. We may be in trouble if he gets knocked around and gets pulled early.Ashenbeck is filthy, but I like that we saw him once already, and I imagine the most he can go after throwing roughly 40-50 pitches on Saturday is another 30-40 pitches before he starts to lose some command. He’s been used a lot in Omaha.
It will be important for us to jump out to an early lead so there is less pressure at the plate to make something happen when he does come in.

This aged well. Just giving you a hard time. He had definitely struggled before the home run.
That is very cool. But also a bit worried this will set unrealistic expectations for him next year with some fans lol.
I'm all for some offseason hopium but isnt this the second vols player to be lights out during KD drill based on report? Hopefully Igor and Lanier are that good but if we get reports Gainey also conquered the KD drill I might start being a little suspicious.I feel better about Lanier than a couple of high volume shooters that transferred in over the last several years. UT lost several games because they went ice cold. Won a couple as well, but it seems like the losses were far more frequent.
It was inaccurately reported on here to have been Igor. In reality, it was Chaz. Jes only the second player in Barnes's career to complete it.I'm all for some offseason hopium but isnt this the second vols player to be lights out during KD drill based on report?
