Ugh. Those are painful.Just saw a tweet, Barnes said Okpara has a hip pointer but refuses to sit. He said it was probably the worst offense he’s seen from him, but he’s doing everything defensively.
To me, I was most impressed with Cade.
Same stat like as Igor but without the fouls and no turnovers.
Played well tonight.
A stat that I find worrisome: in his last six games, Zakai is shooting 20% from three. 9-43.I think more-so than any team in recent memory, I have no idea how to feel about them. Through 2 games, there has been some good, some bad, some surprises, and a lot of questions.
I agree with basically @omghulkhands entire player-by-player assessment. Disappointed in the erratic nature of Zakai’s offense so far. He’s the most experienced player on the team, at this point in his career he shouldn’t be as volatile as he still is. 0-6 from 3? Can’t have that.
I think this team is going to grow a lot this year. I said it in the off-season, but if this team gets a double-bye in the SECT and makes the 2nd weekend of the NCAAT it’s one of the best coaching jobs that Barnes has done at Tennessee.
I’m not overly optimistic about our chances on Saturday in a true road game this early in the season with this many new faces and question marks. It will be a pretty good and immediate barometer for how good we can be. You know Louisville is going to play with their hair on fire trying to make a statement in Year 1 of their new coaching regime.
I know the chances aren’t high, if at all, but with Dubar questionable to return with no timetable. What are the chances Barnes targets a SF/PF like Santi his freshman year? I assume that’s not going to happen but just wanted to see if there were any prospects worth it.
Saturday @ Louisville will be a good test for them.Think it’s going to be tough to gauge this team early on in terms of what they’ll be come conference play. So many new faces. I do think the unfortunate part about this team is that these guys, as BTO referenced after the exhibition game, are likely going to have to shoot the ball well from beyond the arc to be a really successful team offensively. Not going to be a lot of back to basket scoring and frankly not sure if there are any perimeter guys who possess the skill and physicality to get to and finish around the rim consistently against good competition. Perhaps that won’t end up being the case. Like I said, hard to know for sure as of right now.
Plenty of good athletes, though, so I think this can and will be a good defensive team which will keep them in games. Ultimately, this team is going to have to bank on solid perimeter shooting and sound, reliable defense. They’ll have the latter as the season progresses imo. Just a matter of whether they’ll be able to generate enough offense. GBO
Managing a foot injury. Get the word…I know @TrippieRedd will enjoy this...
Aidoo off the bench for the hogs, 7 minutes 1 of 2 for 2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 turnovers
