Give it another couple of years and college basketball will look no different. None of the players at the big time schools will be students, just employees. They’ll all be under contract just like the NBA players.I can’t believe any of you actually watch the NBA. I don’t think I can name ten active players.
Tbf someone could make a similar argument about college basketball. In either case, it’s about seeding, and also it’s just fun to watch basketballYou would have to be an absolute hardcore fan of a team or player to watch regular season NBA games. Every team with even a pulse is still getting to the playoffs. It still doesn't make sense watching till April. What our you watching for? To see if your favorite player or team's best player gets hurt before the real games start?

And that's the issue with the NBA and why a lot of people, basketball fans, in fact, are out on the product. 82 regular season games and then a playoff format that drags out over 2 months is just oversaturation. The same way MLB playing 162 games is oversaturation, though the majority of their season plays out over a period when there is little competition for viewership, so baseball is more tolerable.True, and with how they rest starters now it's crazy they even keep an 82 regular season...
I watch when I can just to see if DK goes off or not. But it's a crap shoot on which nights he gets good minutes and even those nights he may not get a full greenlight to shoot.

It will never happen due to the revenue loss, but the NBA would so much more watchable if it were a 50-gm regular season. The games would mean more, the "load management" BS would be reduced as a result, and fans wouldn't be worn out by the product.
Yeah, the NFL is approaching its limit, as well. I liked the 16-gm model. Going to 17, and eventually 18 is kind of annoying, though what they've really done by doing it is making two preseason games count. They reduced the preseason from 4 to 3 and by going to 18, will reduce it from 3 to 2, so it is a little more tolerable, though the first couple of weeks of the regular season generally are a crap shoot as teams are still coming together without the additional dress rehearsals. And in the time it took you to write this, the NFL just added another game to the regular season, and CFB added another playoff round.
