The Official #1 Tennessee @ Kentucky Thur-Sat Game Thread (Thur. 7PM EST SEC NETWORK) (Fri. 6:30PM EST SEC NETWORK+) (Sat. 2PM EST SEC NETWORK +)

I agree. Haven’t seen them enjoying themselves much. Hope we come out today and play loose and have fun.

YES!!! Pregame, Coach Tony is prepared to give the lads the "it just doesn't matter" speech. Hopefully, we will play so far over our heads that our noses will bleed for a week to ten days..

The tone for the weekend was set in the first inning of the first game , we gave outs away on the base pads and give Kentucky confidence! You can’t show up flat at any SEC school and expect to win. Any SEC school is more than capable of beating you on any given day. We have 5 outs to figure this game out , if not the series belongs to the Cats. I believe it can be done , Go Vols is all I can say. The Pitching has kept us in both games , which is always positive…. Our hitting has tanked so far and this weather isn’t going to help in any way. I will say the next game I think will be a low scoring affair. I hope I am wrong but it’s terrible and the atmosphere as well. Just not a good vibe at the ball park . Kind of gloomy and miserable. Makes me appreciate LNS for sure … one other thing is a New Ball park doesn’t always create an electric feel. I hope Tn sees this. Kentucky has a beautiful stadium , kind of that big league , Hoover feel for me but just a terrible atmosphere though. I am been to more exciting funerals lol maybe not that bad

Same here ... except I don't have a "little" one. The thread was getting somewhat hostile.
I went back and read it this morning...yes it was!
Welcome to 2022 Tennessee baseball, where the average Tennessee fan is pi$$ed at the prospects of dropping ONE baseball series!😎
Good problem to have, I guess.
GBO!!

Ok not exaggerating here. 😀. My Dad’s employer allowed him to use their helicopter (Bell Jet Ranger) to dry off the infield for a state playoff game a few decades ago. It worked like a champ.
Clemson uses helicopters to dry the grass parking areas for their high-end donors if they’ve had rain. It’s amazing how much wind those things create

and there’s absolutely zero environment this weekend.

100%. I absolutely get that it was ridiculously rainy and late last night, but you hit the nail on the head with it being a completely flat and energy-devoid atmosphere and it’s certainly plausible that this is affecting the Vols’ ability to “show up.”

On another note, I see that Kentucky Proud Park has a capacity of ~4,000 with the ability to go to 7,000 for tournament games with temporary seating. I have no idea from watching the last two nights where this huge bump in capacity actually goes, but I would really like to see Tennessee (somehow, not an architect) implement a similar approach to LNS with modular seating that allows for a standard capacity of ~6k that can be expanded to ~7.5k/8k for big series and tournament games.

Vol pitching isn’t bad. Is just not what it was earlier in season. Bullpen held Kentucky of the scoreboard several hours on Friday night.
The Tennessee Tech gable film is out and showed the Vols to be free swinging on low off speed stuff and we have seen a constant diet of that.
their Friday starting pitcher was throwing zero fastball and the Vols were patient with him but not with any pitcher since. The first two innings when we left 5 or 6 on base started a bad trend.
I’ve regularly seen Tennessee come back from far bigger deficits in Lexington with lesser teams against better teams.
We should still win both games today. No excuses

This stadium is a shrunk down Smokies stadium. There are large areas around the scoreboard where you can put seating. In the left field area are some more concrete areas with turf patios.

The berms are wide enough for 2-3 people deep to sit on each tier.

I left the thread at 10:00 pm. I was worn out & couldn't post anymore.

I fell asleep sometime after they announced the rain delay and woke up about 20 minutes ago. I obviously needed the sleep, but it feels weird because that was so much time and I'm wondering how much things have changed while I was in my coma-like sleep.

I assume Putin didn't nuke anyone, but that might be a poor assumption.

Thanks to people posting I'm aware that the 2nd game will be 7 innings. I'll just guess that's because they don't want to ask too much of the umpires and staff it takes to have a game and will also guess umpires aren't compensated very well, but maybe they are.

Anyway, good morning and good afternoon.

Went to sleep about 11:15 CT .... :p didn't get up until 9:45 this morning.

By the way guys, rain always looks worse on tv than in person. I saw the TV footage last night.

It didn’t really start to rain hard until about 5 minutes after the game was stopped and then it UNLOADED!

The third base ump saw lightning in the bottom of prior inning and they kept playing. It thundered and ⚡️ several times before it was stopped.

They should not have started a new inning but that’s not my call
