The Official #1 Tennessee @ Kentucky Thur-Sat Game Thread (Thur. 7PM EST SEC NETWORK) (Fri. 6:30PM EST SEC NETWORK+) (Sat. 2PM EST SEC NETWORK +)

After the race was over they tried to have an interview with the jockey while sitting on a horse but the winner kept attacking & biting the neck of the other horse. I'd never seen that before after a KY Derby race and everyone couldn't believe what was going on with the winning horse.
Not uncommon if it was a horse that it was unfamiliar with.

Now that things have died down a bit…Obviously, no one can keep up with game day threads and still watch the game. I read enough posts to understand the complaints, concerns, etc…I’m sure someone else probably pointed it out, but my thinking going into this weekend went like this…

UK’s pitching ain’t great, their record isn’t great, they can hit though, catcher is good. My concern was, is the series starting on a Thursday while traveling a day early gonna mess with us? The good news is that will be the routine for the rest of the regular season.

Tip of the cap to UK, pitching and fielding was great and they got hits when they needed ‘em.
We’ll get our approach at the plate fixed quickly I’m sure…..but I didn’t see good pitching just bad at bats.

Base running errors cost us game 1 and ultimately our first series.

The fact that we can’t hold runners on base means anybody that gets on first will be a runner in scoring position.

Losing this series and forcing us to address our weaknesses might greatly improve our chances of doing something special.

It would’ve been pretty funny had the winning jockey started imitating his horse and biting the other jockey.

I believe we walked 4 in game one too. A bit uncharacteristic I think as well. Pitching wise I thought on the weekend as a whole they kept us off balance fairly well.

Yes, they did. I think they studied what Tennessee Tech did to us and implemented it. Our guys will have to learn to make adjustments. Hopefully this weekend opened their eyes a bit more.

TT threw only slow and breaking stuff, with rare fastballs. This Auburn team, I think, took from that and used it. But they were throwing fast balls on the corners, knees and shoulders, getting us to swing at them even though they weren't in the zone, and giving us only breaking pitches for strikes, forcing us to swing at them. We're a FB hitting team, so proved effective. But it takes terrific execution to do that as a staff. Most staffs can't do that, and Kentucky was able. It'll be interesting to see what happens next and going forward.

Holding runners has been an issue all year. That's cost us and will continue to do so. With Tony V and Anderson, if it could be fixed, it would have been by now.
