The Official #14 Tennessee @ #19 Alabama Game Thread, 9:00 PM ET, ESPN2

That’s a gut punch to be ahead pretty much the entire game and lose it in the last couple minutes. I understand why Barnes went zone to prevent ZZ from fouling out but I preferred us stay in man down the stretch. The zone cost us on that corner three that tied it up. Still, I was expecting us to get ran off the floor without our two best players. I don’t really believe in moral victories but there are a lot of positives we can take away from this game.
It would have be OK I guess if we could rebound out of it but for the reason alone we should have pulled the plug on it. Just stayed with it too long. Another head scratching decision.

The Barnes hate needs to chill tonight. Did he make some mistakes coaching tonight, yes. Also, but in a weird situation. The lineups we were playing tonight were wild, and somehow made it work. When your best 2 players are out, hard to handle.
But, Bailey over Powell is mind blowing.

Let's see, I do believe we were coming off the heels of running a coach out of town like a bunch of liquored up hicks, before and after coaches were ran from the program.

Do you hear any of that any more? Nope. He changed the culture, and has us on a winning track. Not his fault people like you have the rationale of fart box.
Tonight's not the night

When he(Oates) got in the officials ear during that timeout, the next 4-5 whistles went against TN, while CRB waited until 14.1 seconds left. Also, Quinerly was on the floor with 3 fouls for a long time and we never attempted to go at him. I was puzzled why we didn't challenge him more. Either way, we let one get away while playing with 'house money'.
Go Vols!!
We went at him a few times for like a minute and gave up when he got the “strip steal” (aka raked) on Ziegler

Powell over Bailey all night long but Barnes must think Bailey plays better defense. He damn sure can't shoot.
I dont think his defense is any better overall... Maybe some things that open up down low with lesser length but its beyond me... The kid has the shortest leash ive ever seen... Not good for a shooter

Take back the last 2 minutes of each half and we easily win this game. Not sure what happened in each of those instances but hope it is corrected quickly.

I put this on Barnes, but I'm also proud of how we played on the road, down two of our starters.

We never should have switched to zone. They hit 3 or 4 3 pointers in a row at the end after missing them all night.

Victor Bailey never should have been on the floor at the end.

It seems we have begun to recruit people with low basketball IQ. I mean, how do they take all 12 seconds to shoot (with multiple open shots) when they have 12 seconds to score 5 points at the end of the game? There isn't a lot of cutting. Not enough passing. Just doesn't seem like vintage Barnes

Plavsic to be any sort of consistent contributor. He's afraid to dive on the floor or take a hard foul by going into the basket. He's the biggest dude on the floor and has yet to act like it.

I have yet to feel like we are as good of a team as we have been ranked. Still, good PT for these kids and I think we would have taken Bama at home or with our starters tonight.

And so that’s when you chose to break silence? lol

Yeah it was because it was an absolutely terrible decision.

You gonna do a postgame report tonight? I know it’s a loss and we don’t get those but I’ll be glad to talk about the game in there.

I'm pissed. Plavsic played well, so did ON, but JJJ stunk it the eff up. All that matters, but BHH was balling out. 8 points and 2 rebounds in like 8 minutes or maybe less in the first half and he doesn't play in the 2nd half ? I guess I could have missed it because I listened to Bob, if BHH did play in the 2nd half, it was less than 2 minutes. I"m mystified. If Barnes was teaching a lesson, it cost us a game, imo. I can even live with all those Bailey minutes, because he's been there and has produced in those situations, it's just been a long time. No BHH in the 2nd half is inexcusable, imo. This is why a lot of potentially talented posts seem to always transfer during Barnes run at UT

I notice he doesn't work the refs like other coaches. Oates got some whistles in that second half that they weren't calling in the first half. Barnes is a decent coach and that's about it..
I agree and it seemed to pay-off for Oates this time. Don't have to throw Bobby Knight fits but get the message across.

Man I am being nice. I’m so tired of watching Bailey play. Funny thing is he probably made a couple of his best plays of the year tonight, I even praised him earlier, and it was still a pitiful game

He just isn’t a SEC player. He didn’t play well in conference play at Oregon. Why Barnes continues to use him blows me away.
